This website has no articles. It is a Tools website! You can check it out here.

How to build a Tools Website?

Step 1: Decide on the tool you want to build.

This depends on your niche. In my case, in the digital marketing niche, I focus on building marketing tools.

Let's say you are in the health niche; maybe you create a BMI Calculator, or something else (I am not an expert in this field, so I have no ideas 😅)

But it is simple, think about anything that can help people automate or achieve a specific goal fast with a tool.

💡 Tip 1: Do “Top Keyword” Competitor research!

Study other tool websites in your niche and analyze what keywords they are ranking for; you can do this using Keyword tools like Semrush or ubbersuggest.

For example, one of my competitors is Smallseotools. I put in ubbersuggest keywords by traffic tool, and I get something like this:

You can see, I can find low-difficulty keywords that I can rank fast with if I build a tools website based on it.

💡 Tip 2: Search Appsumo, ProductHunt, and Codecanyon for Ideas.

There you will find many tool sites, but paid ones. You can skim and check if you can create similar tools or maybe a free lite version of these tools.

Step 2: Get a Domain.

You can go with a new domain or host it on your subdomain; this will also help you get a lot of backlinks.

For example, I hosted a free analytics tool under

“analytics.h-supertools.com”

This helped get more backlinks and signals to h-supertools.

And when I started the SEO analyzer 16 months ago, I hosted it under

“seo-analyzer.h-educate.com”

which also gave a lot of positive signals to my main domain, "h-educate"

Later, I migrated to "seoanalyzer.me" because I wanted to make it a standalone project.

Another important tip when choosing a domain name is to try finding a Keyword Domain Name.

What is Keyword Domain Name?

Let me explain with an example I did: if you open any keyword tool and search for this keyword "large file sender"

You will find that it has around 5K searches per month.

So, I bought this domain: largefilesender.com and built the tool, and hosted it.

I am not saying this will help you rank directly on this keyword, but it will help!

This is why my tools website largefilesender.com is getting around 3K Visitors /Month, and it is only two months old!

Step 3: Build the Tool

We Have 4 Main Ways to Build a Tools Site:

Buy a script from Codecanyon: I did this with six websites (Large File sender, h-supertools analytics, website boost, SEO analyzer, Text sharing, and Fast Domainer), and you can do the same also, but don't forget to white-label the script and rebrand it.

Hire a Developer: if you have an idea and a budget, you can always check Upwork, freelancer, and other freelance platforms to hire a developer to do what you want. In my case, I Hired some developers to help me scale H-supertools.

Develop by yourself from scratch: when I started H-supertools, I developed all the tools myself. But later on, I needed some help, so I hired some developers.

Develop with no-code tools or semi-no-code tools.

To build tool websites, you can use some No-code Platforms like Webflow, Bubble, or Anvil (semi-no-code).

For example, I tested building this Disposable Email checker with Anvil with one line of python code. And it worked perfectly; it took me less than 15 minutes to build and host it.

Anvil helps you design the interface with drag and drop, and it is super easy to develop simple tools with a basic knowledge of python programming.

Step 4: Optimize the Tool page.

Now that you have your tools website, you must optimize it for SEO based on your chosen keywords.

Nothing Hard here; it is simple on-page optimizations like setting the heading and meta tags, writing a description of the tool, and maybe how to use it.

Then make sure to submit your site to the Google search console for Google to index and rank on search engines.

Step 5: Monetize the Website

Like any website, you can monetize a tools website in several ways; here are some:

Ad Spaces can be through Ad Networks or by selling Ad spaces directly

Affiliate marketing: If you want to see a real case study I did three months ago, you can check this complete video on how I built a tools website and automated it with affiliate links.

You are promoting your products and services.
