How I Made $2500 My First 30 Days On Vocal
The First 30 days In

The Pros of Vocal
I don’t have anything negative to say about this site since it’s only been 30 days, so, I’m going to step right into the pros of writing on Vocal Media.
Flexibility
You can write about anything you want as long as it follows Vocal’s guidelines, which is actually really beneficial. If you’ve ever had a blog before then you understand that it’s not ideal to write about dinosaurs one day and then make-up the next. You will never gain a true following and you wouldn’t ever be able to secure an audience that will stay. Vocal gives you the freedom to write what you want, when you want, however you want. Which takes me to my next pro.
Categories
This is probably my favorite. After completing the article you’ve written, Vocal has different categories that you can submit it under. Meaning, if I want to write about make-up there’s the Blush category that’s focused on that. If the next day I want to write about mental health there’s a category for that as well. They are taking the guess work out of having to find an audience that wants to know about your topic. Instead, Vocal gathers your wanted audience all in one place and leaves it up to you to keep them there.
Simplicity
As a person who isn’t very tech-savvy, I absolutely need simplicity when doing projects and articles. With that being said, Vocal is the perfect place for me! You can write your article right on the site, save your draft to come back to if need be, choose your categories and keywords, then submit. That’s it. It cant get any easier than that.
Challenges
Vocal has challenges that you can submit your work in based on the subject and requirements of their choosing. Each challenge has a certain amount of time it remains open for. Once closed the Vocal Team votes on the top 3 and those chosen wins a monetary amount/ prize. Not only are the prizes worth it, but participating in these challenges, whether you win or lose, gains you reads on your work; Which is one of the ways you can earn money here on Vocal outside of reads and tips.
Tips
If a reader likes what you've written they have the option to leave a tip via stripe. I love this. At first I was disappointed that I couldn't see or allow comments on my articles once submitted but the tip option more than made up for that.

My Earnings
So, as you can see, I published my first vocal article on December 8, 2020 exactly 30 days ago. I didn't really have a plan on when I was going to post or how frequently during the week. I decided that I was going to go with the flow and see if Vocal was a good fit. My top two articles that earned the most was “The Ultimate gift Guide” and “Road To 21”. Now, both of those were entered in a Vocal challenge which increased my reads and ,in my opinion, also increased reads on my other articles. The "Ultimate Gift Guide", which happens to be the very first article that I posted, also won second place in the challenge I submitted it to. That win is how I made 2500 the first month and the reason it has more reads than all of the rest. Now, for understanding, they announced the winners of this challenge on January the 5th, which goes to say, the majority of the reads I received were over the past 3 days.
For clarification
I wont say its impossible to earn a lot on Vocal by just relying on reads alone but it is harder. Its very easy for an article you post to be buried by other submissions especially if its under a popular category. As you can see, my articles that were not entered in challenges are struggling for attention. With that being said, You will need to gain followers outside of Vocal, such as, through friends, family, and social media. If you are solely relying on Vocal to push your read count up you will be disappointed. Your title and image have to lure the reader in and your work has to be good enough to keep them there.
Authors Note:
Keep an eye out for my next update in 30 days showing the difference in earnings with me using social media to increase my reads.
Also, for any new or struggling Vocal users I would recommend reading Kathryn Milewski's tips on using Vocal. I found her due to one of her articles being a staff pick and since then the first thing that I do when I log on is see if she's posted anymore work. She has had a great success and her tips have helped me tremendously my first 30 days in. Not only that but her articles are absolutely amazing!! Now taking a tip from her tips in regards to tips. (ahaha)
If you liked what you read hit the heart button and/or leave a tip!
