How I Became An Entrepreneur

My Journey into Social Media Marketing

By angel abadPublished about a year ago 3 min read

When I look back at my career, the path that led me to become a social media marketing entrepreneur wasn't liner, but it was full of valuable lessons and growth.

The Early Days

My journey began in the heart of Seattle, where stepped into the world of marketing while becoming a full time student and sales representative at AT&T. While balancing my responsibilities as a full-time student and worker, I always nurtured a passion for digital marketing that inspired me to start working on it for myself. I then took on various roles, each one offering a glimpse into the power of storytelling through digital platforms. It was after graduation that i took on a role as a social media manager at Point No Point Studio that i truly found my passion. I was tasked with not just managing social media accounts but also crafting compelling narratives that resonated with the audiences. The thrill of transforming brands' online presence sparked a fire in me.

The Leap of Faith

After five years of refining my skills and building a network, I found myself at a crossroad. I had grown immensely, but I realized that to truly fulfill my vision, I need to step out of my own. It was a leap of faith, leaving behind the security of a steady paycheck for the uncertain but exciting world of entrepreneurship.

Choosing to work for myself rather than in a corporate 9-5 job was a decision fueled by both passion and necessity. My love for social media management has always driven me to create meaningful connections between brands and their audiences. I thrive on creativity and strategy involved in crafting compelling narratives that reasonate in the digital landscape.

However, my experience in the cirporate world left me feeling stifled and unfulfilled. The rigid structures and the unfairness within the company often overshadowed my enthusiasm. I witness talented individuals overlooked for their work and ideas dismissed simply due to office politics. This environment not only dampened my spirit but also ignited a desire for autonomy and creativity. By launching my own business, I reclaimed my passion and my time, allowing me to focus on what truly matters-helping brands thrive in a way that aligns with my values and vision.

I spent weeks drafting a business plan, identifying my niche and understand my target audience. The excitement was palpable, yet the reality of running my own business was daunting. I knew i had to leverage everything I learned in my previous roles to create something meaningful.

Building My Brand

Launching my social media marketing business called La Luna Marketing was scary. I reached out to old contacts, utilize my existing skills in digital marketing, and dedicated countless hours to refining my services. I focused on creating tailored strategies that catered to small businesses seeking to amplify their online presence. I combined my expertise in analytics with a passion for storytelling, ensuring that each campaign was not just about numbers, but about forging genuine connections with audiences.

Looking Ahead

As I continue this journey, I remain committed to evolving and growing. The landscape of social media marketing is always shifting, and I'm excited to embrace the changes and challenges that come my way. Each day presents an opportunity to learn something new, connect with inspiring individuals, and help brands tell their unique stories.

In hindsight, my journey to becoming an entrepreneur was never just about starting a business; it was about embracing my passion, facing challenges head-on, and believing in the impact of storytelling in the digital age. I'm excited to see where this path leads me and the stories yet to be told.
