I love being a Vocal member!

I have wanted to write since I was little and realized that books had authors. I have been writing stories ever since I learned how.

Vocal’s challenges help provide me with prompts for creativity and I like having a deadline because it makes me buckle down and finish writing. I’m also excited about getting to share my writing with others and getting their feedback.

I’m particularly proud of my recent Top Story in October 2023, The Loudly Silent End here: https://shopping-feedback.today/humans/the-loudly-silent-end%3C/p%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="14azzlx-P">.css-14azzlx-P{font-family:Droid Serif,Georgia,Times New Roman,Times,serif;font-size:1.1875rem;-webkit-letter-spacing:0.01em;-moz-letter-spacing:0.01em;-ms-letter-spacing:0.01em;letter-spacing:0.01em;line-height:1.6;color:#1A1A1A;margin-top:32px;}

I can’t really say that I have a favorite genre to read or write. I love just about everything. My dad started me out by reading the newspaper to me to get me to go to sleep. Then, he got me reading the classics like Pollyanna and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.

I branched out into all kinds of books the second my mother got me a library card. In fact, I loved reading do much that my mother had me volunteer at the library one a week! I used to eat my weight in pizza during the Pizza Hut contests and our library’s Summer Reading Challenge of reading fifty books wasn’t really a challenge for me either.

I published my first poem, A Painting, which is republished here on Vocal, when I was in college and I joined a writer’s group so that I could learn more about writing.

I currently have three very different novels in the works: When I leave the Sorceress, Deeper Bonds, and Eternal Passion.

When I leave the Sorceress is about a man named Deseo chosen to become the consort of a very powerful sorceress. He is very excited that she picked him to be her lover and live a life of luxurious leisure – until she places a spell on him that will not allow him to truly think for himself. He has the seed of an idea to escape from her, but can he?

Part of the prologue of When I leave the Sorceress can be found here: https://shopping-feedback.today/fiction/the-binding-ceremony%3C/p%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="14azzlx-P">.css-14azzlx-P{font-family:Droid Serif,Georgia,Times New Roman,Times,serif;font-size:1.1875rem;-webkit-letter-spacing:0.01em;-moz-letter-spacing:0.01em;-ms-letter-spacing:0.01em;letter-spacing:0.01em;line-height:1.6;color:#1A1A1A;margin-top:32px;}

Deeper Bonds begins with the hatching of a nest of dragon eggs. On the other side of the world, a man named Jakkar begins having nightmares of leaving the only place he’s ever known and losing the love of his life in a fire.

The prologue Deeper Bonds for is also published on Vocal here: https://shopping-feedback.today/fiction/deeper-bonds%3C/p%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="14azzlx-P">.css-14azzlx-P{font-family:Droid Serif,Georgia,Times New Roman,Times,serif;font-size:1.1875rem;-webkit-letter-spacing:0.01em;-moz-letter-spacing:0.01em;-ms-letter-spacing:0.01em;letter-spacing:0.01em;line-height:1.6;color:#1A1A1A;margin-top:32px;}

Eternal Passion is set in modern-day Chicago and is written from the perspective of Crystal, a woman who is desperately seeking love. She finally finds her soulmate in Stephen – only Stephen doesn’t think she has. He breaks things off with her after a few months of dating due to some concerning behavior. Crystal is simply devastated. She knows, absolutely knows, she can convince him they are right for each other if she plans things out very carefully….

The prologue and part of the first chapter of Eternal Passion is published here: https://shopping-feedback.today/fiction/eternal-passion%3C/p%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="14azzlx-P">.css-14azzlx-P{font-family:Droid Serif,Georgia,Times New Roman,Times,serif;font-size:1.1875rem;-webkit-letter-spacing:0.01em;-moz-letter-spacing:0.01em;-ms-letter-spacing:0.01em;letter-spacing:0.01em;line-height:1.6;color:#1A1A1A;margin-top:32px;}

My goals for this year are to schedule more time to write, finish one of these books, and find a publisher. I’m still trying to figure out which one to focus on. Do you have an opinion?
