In a quiet village surrounded by lush green fields and tall date palm trees, lived a young boy named Salman. He was known throughout the village for his kindness, good manners, and, most importantly, his deep love and respect for his parents. Everyone in the village, from the elderly to the little children, admired Salman and often prayed for him, wishing their own children could be like him.
Salman’s parents, Ahmad and Aisha, were simple but wise people. They had taught their son the values of Islam from an early age, emphasizing the importance of kindness, respect, and obedience to parents. They always reminded him of the verse from the Qur’an: "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents…" (Surah Al-Ahqaf 46:15). Salman took this teaching to heart and lived by it every day.
Every morning, before the sun rose, Salman would wake up early to pray Fajr with his parents. After prayer, he would help his mother prepare breakfast and serve his father tea before he left for work. Unlike other boys his age who would run off to play immediately, Salman always made sure his parents were comfortable and had everything they needed before stepping outside.
One day, his mother fell ill. She could no longer do the household chores, and his father had to work longer hours to afford her medicine. Without being asked, Salman took on all the responsibilities of the house. He would cook, clean, and even help his younger siblings with their studies. In between all of this, he never forgot to sit by his mother’s side, comforting her and reciting Qur’an to bring peace to her heart.
Neighbors began to notice Salman's devotion. One of the elders, Uncle Kareem, said to him, “My dear boy, I have never seen such dedication at your age. May Allah bless you with endless rewards.”
Salman simply smiled and replied, “Jazakallahu Khayran, Uncle. I only do what is right. My parents have given me everything; how can I not serve them with love?”
As time passed, Salman's mother recovered, and life returned to normal. But his goodness did not go unnoticed. The villagers would often see him carrying heavy baskets for his mother at the market, offering his father a glass of water after a long day’s work, or rushing home to ensure his parents had eaten before he did.
One evening, a merchant named Hamid visited the village. He was an old friend of Ahmad, and when he saw Salman’s behavior, he was deeply moved. He turned to Ahmad and said, “Brother, your son is a rare gem. In my travels, I have seen many children, but none with such love and obedience to their parents. This boy will be blessed in this life and the next.”
Years passed, and Salman grew into a strong and righteous young man. When his father became too old to work, Salman took over his trade and provided for the family. He continued to treat his parents with the same love and respect, never once complaining or feeling burdened.
One day, an imam from a neighboring town came to the village and heard about Salman. He invited him to speak to the youth about the importance of honoring their parents. Standing before the crowd, Salman humbly said, “My brothers and sisters, our parents are our doors to Jannah. If we serve them with sincerity, Allah will open doors of blessings for us. They raised us with love and sacrifice; how can we not repay them with kindness?”
The villagers, both young and old, were deeply touched. Many of them reflected on their own actions and sought to be better children to their parents. Some even wept, realizing how much they had taken their parents for granted.
When Salman’s parents eventually passed away, the entire village mourned with him. People comforted him, saying, “They left this world pleased with you, and that is the greatest success.”
Even after their passing, Salman continued to honor them by making dua for them, giving charity in their name, and upholding the values they had taught him. His story became a legacy in the village, inspiring generations to come.
And so, Salman’s name remained in the hearts of the people, not because of wealth or power, but because of the love and kindness he showed to his parents. Truly, he was a boy that everyone loved, and Allah blessed him with a heart full of light and a soul at peace.
