Hi, Traveler Friend! Have you heard about Lake Toba? If not, get ready to fall in love with its charm! Lake Toba is one of the truly amazing wonders of nature. It is said that this lake was formed by the violent eruption of Mount Toba around 74,000 years ago. With an area of more than 1,145 square kilometers and a depth of 450 meters, Lake Toba looks more like an ocean than a lake. In the center, there is Samosir Island, which is quite large and interesting to explore.

Soothing and Beautiful

Lake Toba is the perfect place to relax. Its cool air and calm atmosphere make it a favorite destination to unwind. Located at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level, the scenery around the lake is decorated with rows of mountains and green trees that refresh the eyes. Perfect for those of you who want to take a break from your daily routine.

How to Get to Lake Toba

1. Airways

For Traveler Pals who choose the air route, there are two options. First, from Kualanamu International Airport, Medan, you can take a plane to Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport in Siborongborong, North Tapanuli. From there, the trip continues by land to Lake Toba. Second, you can fly directly to Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport from Jakarta or several other major cities. Make sure to check the flight availability first!

2. Land Route

If you prefer the land route, from Medan you can take a bus to Medan-Parapat with a travel time of about 4 hours. But, if you want to be more relaxed and private, many travel agents in Medan provide car rental services complete with drivers to get to Lake Toba. Once there, you can continue your journey to Samosir Island by ferry from Ajibata Port to Tomok Port or from Muara Port to Sipinggan Port.
