From there, the trip continues by land to Lake Toba. Second, you can fly directly to Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport from Jakarta or several other major cities. 2. Land Route
If you prefer the land route, from Medan you can take a bus to Medan-Parapat with a travel time of about 4 hours. But, if you want to be more relaxed and private, many travel agents in Medan provide car rental services complete with drivers to get to Lake Toba. Once there, you can continue your journey to Samosir Island by ferry from Ajibata Port to Tomok Port or from Muara Port to Sipinggan Port.
