Earning 50,000 taka per month sitting at home: My freelancing journey

Starting from zero to earning 50,000 taka per month sitting at home: My journey in freelancing

By Abdul WahedPublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Just a few years ago, I couldn’t have imagined earning 50,000 Taka a month while sitting at home. But today, this is my reality — achieved entirely through freelancing. The journey was not always smooth, but every step was worth it. If you dream of working from home and gaining financial independence, I hope my story inspires you to take your first step.

The Humble Beginning

My freelancing journey started in 2020 when I created my first profile on Freelancer.com. Like many beginners, I faced a lot of challenges at the start. For months, I didn’t get a single project. Every day I sent out proposals, only to face rejections or complete silence. It was frustrating, but I refused to give up.

Instead of quitting, I decided to focus on learning. I spent my time improving skills that were in demand—data entry, web research, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, lead generation, and Canva design. I watched free tutorials on YouTube, took online courses, and accepted small gigs to gain experience. I knew that if I wanted to grow, I had to become good at something.

My First Breakthrough

After many failed attempts, I finally landed my first project—a small data entry task. It wasn’t a high-paying job, but I treated it as a big opportunity. I completed the work with 100% accuracy and delivered it before the deadline. The client was impressed and gave me a 5-star rating.

That single review changed everything. It added credibility to my profile. Suddenly, other clients started noticing me. I began receiving more replies to my proposals, and small projects started coming in regularly.

Growing My Income Step by Step

My first earning was only 2,000 Taka, but it gave me a huge confidence boost. I realized that consistency was the key. I kept improving my profile, writing customized proposals, and delivering every project with professionalism.

Over time, my income steadily increased. Within a few months, I was earning around 10,000 Taka per month. That gradually grew to 30,000 Taka, and today, I consistently earn about 50,000 Taka every month — all while working from the comfort of my home.

The Skills That Helped Me Succeed

I didn’t master everything at once. I took it step by step. Each new skill opened more doors and allowed me to take on different types of projects.

Here are the key skills that shaped my freelancing success:

✅ Data Entry & Data Mining

✅ Web Research & Lead Generation

✅ Google Sheets & Microsoft Excel

✅ Canva Design for Flyers & Presentations

✅ E-commerce Product Listing & Cataloging

Learning these skills took time, but they made me a versatile and reliable freelancer that clients could trust.

Platforms I Work On

To diversify my income and reduce dependency on one platform, I started working on multiple freelancing sites. This helped me reach more clients and get consistent work.

The platforms I work on include:

🔹 Freelancer.com

🔹 Upwork

🔹 Fiverr

🔹 And a few direct clients who now give me regular work

Building long-term relationships with clients has also played a big part in my stability and income growth.
