DARE TO CREATE, DARE TO TAKE RISKS
Leo stood at the edge of his small workshop, staring at the half-finished sculpture before him. The cold metal framework mocked him, reminding him of every project he had abandoned, every risk he had been too afraid to take. His hands, once filled with passion and certainty, now trembled with doubt.
“You’ll never make it as an artist,” his father’s voice echoed in his mind. “It’s too risky. Find something stable.”
For years, Leo had followed that advice, choosing a corporate job over his dreams. But the fire inside him never died. Late at night, after long hours at the office, he would sneak into this workshop, welding, carving, creating. And yet, he never finished anything.
Fear always stopped him.
THE OPPORTUNITY
One day, an email arrived from The Avant-Garde Art Exhibition, one of the biggest art showcases in the country. They were accepting submissions from emerging artists. It was the kind of opportunity Leo had always dreamed of—but never dared to take.
His best friend, Mia, saw the email over his shoulder.
“You have to do this,” she said, eyes shining with excitement.
Leo shook his head. “I can’t. I’m not ready.”
Mia frowned. “You always say that. You’re never ready, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.”
She turned to the unfinished sculpture in the center of the workshop. “This… this is incredible. But it doesn’t matter how great your work is if no one ever sees it.”
Leo hesitated. The deadline was in three weeks. If he wanted to submit, he had to finish something.
That night, as he stared at his sculpture, he realized something: The real risk wasn’t failure—it was never trying at all.
And so, he made a decision.
THE CREATION PROCESS
For the next twenty days, Leo poured every ounce of energy into his work. He sculpted, welded, and polished, pushing past exhaustion and self-doubt.
He called the piece "Metamorphosis"—a towering, twisted structure symbolizing transformation and the courage to embrace the unknown.
But just two days before the deadline, disaster struck.
As Leo made the final adjustments, a sudden snap echoed through the workshop. One of the sculpture’s main support beams cracked, causing part of the structure to collapse.
Leo’s heart pounded. All that work… ruined in seconds.
Mia rushed in after hearing the crash. “Oh my God, are you okay?”
Leo sat on the floor, staring at the broken piece. “It’s over,” he muttered. “There’s no time to fix this.”
Mia crossed her arms. “So that’s it? You’re just going to give up?”
Leo rubbed his face. “It’s not that simple.”
“Yes, it is,” Mia insisted. “You either let this stop you, or you take the risk and make it work.”
Leo looked at his hands—scratched, burned from welding, covered in sweat and dust. His body was exhausted, but something inside him refused to quit.
Maybe this was the risk he needed to take.
THE FINAL PUSH
Instead of repairing the sculpture, Leo reimagined it. He took the broken pieces and welded them in new, unexpected ways. The accident forced him to think differently, to create something he never would have attempted before.
By the submission deadline, Metamorphosis stood taller and bolder than before.
THE EXHIBITION
A week later, Leo walked into the grand gallery where the Avant-Garde Exhibition was held. His sculpture stood among the others, illuminated by soft golden lights. Visitors gathered around it, whispering in admiration.
A well-dressed woman approached him. “You’re the artist behind this piece?”
Leo swallowed. “Yes.”
She smiled. “It’s remarkable. There’s so much raw energy in it. You must have taken some real risks to create something like this.”
Leo looked at Metamorphosis—a sculpture born from failure, reconstructed with courage.
For the first time in his life, he felt like a true artist.
He had dared to create.
And he had dared to take the risk.
