Ditch Assumptions Now for a Life You Never Knew Was Possible!

This week, I discovered that assumptions can stifle many things, including curiosity. I hadn’t realized how often they hinder my success. We make countless assumptions—like believing our crush wouldn’t like us—without even trying. We also assume that others dislike or judge us negatively, viewing the world through a distorted lens shaped by our own perceptions. It’s easy to fall into this trap, allowing our fears and insecurities to dictate how we interact with others.

From my experience, no two people are the same, which highlights the pitfalls of making assumptions. Whenever we reach a conclusion, let’s take a moment to analyze whether it’s based on facts or merely our interpretations. Sometimes, as painful as the truth may be, it’s far better to seek it out than to create false assumptions that provide us with a false sense of comfort. By asking questions, we gain clarity and a deeper understanding of the tasks and situations we face. This process of inquiry can open doors to new perspectives and opportunities we might have otherwise missed.

Interestingly, asking what might seem like “stupid” questions can often spark our desire to learn and grow. After all, something is only considered stupid if we label it as such. And let’s not forget to trust our gut feelings, as they can guide us in unexpected ways. Our instincts often hold valuable insights that can lead us to deeper truths about ourselves and the world around us.

At times, I feel scared to approach and ask because of my past experiences and my tendency to look only at the surface level. The person may seem like an authority figure—cold, attractive, or wealthy—but at the end of the day, I realize that we are all human, regardless of our appearances. How scary can it be to confront someone we perceive as intimidating? How much time am I wasting just assuming what others think of me instead of moving forward with confidence, reaching for my goals, and stopping the endless cycle of “what if”?

The only thing that is truly fragile is our life. I may be gone one day, and so may my loved ones. While this truth is always known, we often take it for granted, thinking, “Oh, it won’t happen,” or viewing it as something too uncomfortable to mention in conversation. But isn’t that just another assumption? How did all this background noise come to be? Who, what, and where? The moment I realized that this had to stop was when I understood that I had not been living my life fully.

There could be so many things that, if I just gave them a neutral look or refrained from making assumptions, could have turned out differently. We may not know what someone else is going through, but at the same time, we are not any less than anyone else. To justify, we are all neutral; no meaning needs to be assigned unless we add one to it. This realization is liberating. It allows us to see others as they are, rather than through the lens of our own fears and biases.

Let’s not make ourselves small anymore. Let’s take one step at a time and recreate the life that was meant for us from the beginning. We have the power to shape our experiences and challenge the assumptions that hold us back.

So, let’s challenge ourselves to break free from these assumptions. What if we approached life with a sense of curiosity instead? Imagine the insights we could gain and the connections we could build. It’s time to ask the questions that matter and seek the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. Let’s embrace this journey together and see where it takes us. After all, a more fulfilling life is just a question away.
