I’m on a mission to support more Black creators, and as a Black creator myself, it’s my civic duty to elevate the Black creator community.

I don’t like to dwell on the negative aspects of being a Black creator, because I prefer to look at life from a glass half full perspective. However, I have to be honest here, we need more Black creators to stand up and fight for the Black creator community, that’s my opinion anyway.

I had a conversation with a friend last week, she said:

“Stop focusing on skin color, and focus on the fact that you’re a human being, this artist is a human being, this creator is a human being. It’s not important.”

I beg to differ.

Yes, it is important.

You can’t hide your skin color, and some people, not all, but some, have an unconscious or conscious bias when it comes to creators of color. That’s the sad truth.

Also, it’s vital that we as Black creators, we speak up and highlight our experiences in the creator space. It’s great to see talented bloggers such as Nakisha Wynn build successful online careers. As a single mother myself, and a Black woman too, I resonate with her struggle to build a better life for her kids as a creator. It’s no easy feat.

I choose not to focus on all the difficulties, and I prefer to spend my time building something meaningful for the Black creator community instead. So as a response to my belief that we need to support each other more as Black creators, I’ve built a site for Black-owned businesses and Black creators.

I had this idea some years back and started a Medium publication to get the ball rolling with it however, I put the project on hold for a while. Most recently, I picked it up again, bought the domain and started gathering lists of creators and businesses to feature on the site.

Now, the goal is to support Black creators and businesses, and to provide help for vulnerable women in Ghana, West Africa.

Here’s how it works:

  • Creators donate any amount to the site to support vulnerable women in Ghana, and to support the project
  • We feature you on the site in the form of a blog post, and we create content about you for platforms such as Medium and YouTube. We also work with other creators who will promote your content or business.

The goal is to have one million creators and businesses on the site by December 2027. It sounds like a massive goal, but I believe we can achieve it. There’s no reason why we can’t achieve this goal.

If you’re a Black creator, or you run a business, kindly visit the page and begin the process. If you don’t have a business, or you’re not interested in being featured, you can still donate to support the project and vulnerable women in Ghana, West Africa.

Thank you for your kindness.
