Art Is My Past and Future
History has given what they want the people to know. It is time to take and understand what you demand. That is the truth.
I am an artist. Art is within every aspect of life. From the moment the sun shines through my window blinds until the moon appears in the night. Art is ubiquitous to me. I want to use the world's natural produced artistry to create an impression to my viewers of the broad view. I want to be an influencer of the youth and the mature. Create material that shows insight into different cultures and brings them together. In time generational differences have kept mankind separated in society. Caused individuals to believe their similarities can not correlate or interact with one another without conflict. That is far from the truth to me. As an artist, I want to create media visuals and audio displays that detail my creativity. I do this to emphatically influence communities by bringing everyone together. Yes, people are individuals. We are all one.
He looked at me with a confused look in his eyes, then forwarded his attention to the rest of his interview questions on his notepad. I knew I had described too much without explaining myself properly. We were no longer on that question in this interview, but I decided to continue my thoughts on why I have chosen the career path I chose.
My goal in life is to be a creative influencer in the media. I can visualize how content created today can be replaced with culturally infused content of the future. The media has played a large role. It has taken many forms. Books, Radio broadcasts, Television, Social Media Platforms, and many other forms of media exist. From the time I got my first fuchsia and taffy Barbie paint art-set, I began to create interpretations of the world around me with a different stylistic approach. I like to create entertaining and relatable content.
I paused to see if I had caught his attention. He was looking into my eyes with a blank stare. He began to nod his head as if he were interested in what I had to say. Naturally, I continued to speak.
While living all across the east coast, I have observed multiple districts. I have learned that people tend to associate with what they know and base their actions and decision-making on their knowledge of their past. Your past dictates everything that you know, who and where you come from, what you like and what you despise. Through my art, I want to teach people a new way of witnessing the truth, expand the viewer's minds to the possibility of a new nature. A grander life to come. Everyone can work together and establish stories to be told for generations while absorbing and mastering their truth. I enjoy learning. I will continue to grow my mind by learning techniques and information about the multiple world cultures that can be efficiently used within my craft.
He was not a smart person. He wore the attire of someone intelligent. Had glasses. A navy blue and white button-up striped shirt. A navy blue tie. A straight suit and tie guy. He looked at me in my eyes and said, “The world has been this way for so long. What makes you so special? How do you intend to make money with only art” I couldn’t believe he just asked me why I am “special” in a professional setting. I decided to take the opportunity to explain why.
I have grown tremendously since creating home youtube videos with doll actors, performing in school theatrical events, and creating sculptures from play-doe. I learned to act on stage. There are many techniques to use to embody and become a character. I have learned printmaking and how to balance my art pieces while using the rule of thirds.
He still did not seem impressed. The interview ended and his last words to me as he stood up to shake my right hand were, “I have enjoyed our talk. I will be in contact with you”. He smiled as he stepped away from the back of the desk and led me to the door to leave.
I walked out of the building and to my car. This was a new world for me. The sun was shining brighter than I had ever felt on my skin. It kind of burned a little, but I did not mind it at all. I could smell the saline ocean in the breeze. I was not that far from the beach. I knew at that moment that I could obtain money in my way. Now I know that no one can dictate my path but myself.
As I grow and learn more about myself, I realized I enjoy taking on multiple artistic projects. I enjoy making all kinds of art. Seeing the faces of the viewers as it sparks ideas in their minds and understanding within the specific art piece is special to me. A creative work of art can range from $100 to $20,000 to $100,000. It depends on the level of time and money put into the piece. Learning from the media, history, and technique. I can revolutionize the future world with my art! Everything can be understood by using only words. A picture by me contains thousands of words. The story I have to tell will change the course of time. I want to know. Will you heed?
