Apricot Kernel Oil ~
Pressed from the rich kernels of apricots, apricot kernel oil is a light oil that is readily absorbed into the skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. This affordable oil is rich in vitamins such as vitamin A and vitamin E and also closely resembles the skins natural sebum. Apricot kernel oil helps to improve skin tone , maintain radiance and softness of skin. Apricot Kernel oil is a light, pale yellow oil.
What is this oil Good For : Apricot kernel oil is deeply moisturising , making it the perfect oil to revive dry skin and also dry hair. It can also be used in things such as facial moisturising oils, body butters and even eye creams to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Apricot kernel oil also can be used as a healing oil in ointments for cuts , scrapes and itchy, chapped skin.
The Pros and Cons of using this oil : While apricot kernel oil is great for dry or mature skin types, it might be too much to use alone on individuals with acne or oily skin types. Dilute it with hemp seed oil to receive its benefits without having to worry about clogging pores. Rich in Vitamin A and vitamin E, apricot kernel oil has a comedogenic rating of 2, meaning it shouldn't clog pores for most people, this makes it a great oil to add to facial cleansers and moisturisers.
Safety Considerations when using this oil : If you have any sort of nut allergy, apricot kernel oil may be used instead of almond oil. This oil is generally safe to use for all.
Storage instructions for this oil : Apricot kernel oil has a shelf life of around one year when stored under proper conditions. For the longest shelf life, store in a dark bottle in a cool, dark location.
Remember to always use oils in moderation and to discontinue use immediately if any discomfort or rashes appear, please also do not use oils when pregnant without talking to a consultant or midwife first and for applications on children and elderly please ensure you use smaller amounts. If you have any concerns before using a new carrier oil please consult a professional first. Just like prescription medications, natural healers such as aromatherapy oils can cause adverse side effects. Apricot kernel oil is usually but not always used in aromatherapy blends , which is a mixture of carrier oils and essential oils. These aromatherapy blends are used for both healing and for pleasure , such as a mood booster or a relaxant. Aromatherapy is an incredible practice to add to your daily or weekly routine as the health benefits from it is endless!
