Amalfi Celebrations: When and where are they?
Other than the beauty of its nature, its historical heritage, stunning views and sunsets and breathtaking beaches Amalfi Coast is the place of many festivals all year long. During Christmas and New Year’s, it is especially lively at the Amalfi Coast. Concerts of choirs and orchestra and fireworks all over the Amalfi coast in the towns and the beaches.

The main festival happening in Positano every August the 15th is the Festa Dell’ Assunta. Festa Dell Assunta is the festival where the replica of the Byzantine icon Madonna and a child from Santa Maria Assunta is caried from the Church to the Sea. After the even visitors can enjoy beautiful fireworks and concerts at the beach in Positano.
On the June 27th and the November 30th Amalfi celebrates the Festa Di Sant’ Andrea the main Saint of Amalfi and the protector of the seamen. The celebration in June is dedicated to the victory over the pirates in 1544 and the November celebration is commemorating the passing of St. Andrew. During the commemoration men dressed in white are caring a statute of St. Andrew through the town to the beach and climbing 62 steps the men are carrying the statue to the Church.
During the Positano Premia La Danza Leonide Massine festival you will enjoy lots of dancing. So, if you like dancing this is the place to be on the 31st of August. Besides dancing you will enjoy different exhibitions, concerts, panels and awards ceremonies of different prizes.
Not all festivals and celebrations are in Positano. During the 50s Ravello became the City of music. The Ravello festival happens from June to October. Music lovers will have the opportunity to listen to great artists performing several different types of music, such as classical music with playlists that comprise of famous composers such as Bach, Chopin, Wagner and others, dance performances, jazz concerts and other musical treats.
