5 Things to Remember to Clean and Disinfect in your Office Space
Whether you are cleaning your own office space or you have a professional cleaning company do the cleanings for you, there are certain tasks which can easily be forgotten. If you want to keep a clean and healthy environment it is important to clean all the bacteria harbouring surfaces to avoid sickness spreading. Here are some things that might get overlooked so you can address them today.
1- Kitchen Drying Rack
Most office spaces have a little kitchen area for all of those much needed coffee mugs and silverware utilised by employees. Ask yourself, when was the last time that this kitchen drying rack was properly cleaned and disinfected? Drying racks are exposed to a lot of moisture and usually in close proximity to dirty dishes. Therefore you might be surprised how much bacteria it can harbour. So make sure to include it on your cleaning list.
2- Computer Screen
Most people remember to disinfect their keyboards but often forget about their computer screens. The computer screen is another one of those bacteria harbouring surfaces because you are so close to it at all times. Every cough, sneeze and touch of the hand can easily transmit bacteria, not to mention all the dust that tends to accumulate on screens. Make sure to do your research on how to properly clean a computer screen so you don’t cause any damage to it. The wrong solution or too much pressure can lead to damage beyond repair. However with the right solution and approach your computer screen could go from dusty germ filled to a disinfected clear surface.
3- Office Phone
Now, I know some of you may be wondering who uses a landline these days? Well, these are still fairly common in office settings because of their reliable connection. Think about how many germs cling on to the office phone. Any cough, sneeze or even just holding it with your hands can lead to the phone quickly accumulating germs, which only gets amplified if there are different employees using the same phone. Perhaps it is time to properly disinfect it to help avoid the entire office from getting sick.
4- Knobs and Handles
How many people work in your office space? Every time you or a co-worker opens an office drawer or opens a door, hands make contact with the handles or door knobs. That is why these are essential to disinfect in order to maintain a healthy work environment.
5- Wall Splatter Behind Garbage Cans
Another overlooked office mess is the splatter behind garbage cans. Whether it is in the bathroom area or kitchen area, make sure to wipe and disinfect the walls behind all garbage cans. Sometimes a coffee splatter is obvious on a white wall but you won’t necessarily see a visible stain from the germ contaminated Kleenex which might’ve hit the wall before landing in the garbage can. For this reason, you should give this area a good clean at least once per week even if there is no visible stain.
We hope these tips help you keep your office healthy, as this is of utmost importance to the success of your business. If any of these often forgotten cleaning tasks are currently not being addressed by your current cleaning company, make sure to kindly mention adding these cleaning tasks to their must do list.
