5 Strategies to Improve Your Business

How to Improve Your Business

By Robert CordrayPublished 6 years ago 3 min read

It can be very easy to fall into the trap of thinking you have it all figured out. However, there is always new research coming out, new strategies, and new techniques. Your job as a business professional is to keep up to date on the latest information and use that knowledge to improve your clients’ lives.

Set aside some time each week or month to take continuing education classes, go through an online course, or doing some self-study research. Not only will clients see that you are up to date, but they will respect you more for putting in that time and effort.

While there are many ways you can improve your business to increase clients, these are the first five places you should start. As your confidence both in your skills and your business practices continues to grow, these strategies will feel like second nature and integrate seamlessly in an already overwhelming to do list.

You have worked very hard to get your business to where it is today. Whether it is at the place you want and you are trying to make a few tweaks, or you are still striving for that top goal, these five strategies to improve your business will help get you there.

Know Your Ideal Client

Many businesses fail because they want to help everyone, which is noble and big-hearted, but not very savvy from a successful business standpoint.

Spend some time processing who your ideal client is and narrow in on their pain points, their starting points, and where you come in during their process of change. Once you evaluate and nail these characteristics down, you will be able to create more direct marketing and messaging to attract those you truly want to work with.

Clean Up Your Website

The first thing that anyone does when deciding if they are going to use you for your work is to check for your online presence. Having a clean website, with clear pictures, and an obvious way that the client can work with you will make your trust factor much stronger especially since a 2015 survey stated that 84% of people believe an actual website vs just a social media page make your business more legitimate.

At minimum, your website needs to include a professional photo of you, a page on the services you offer, and a bit of your background. Including some of the details of your passion for your work will also go a long way in making potential clients feel comfortable in your hands.

Offer A Freebie

A freebie will look very different depending on what your specific business is, but a few examples could be a free month long workout plan, a free consultation, or a free nutrition workbook. You could even offer a home gym equipment checklist or a pantry clean out guide.

Whatever you feel called to make for potential clients that will help them put their best foot forward, get it out there for them as an easy lead generation strategy. This helps build up your trust factor and leads to more paying clients once they see how knowledge you are and the way you like to send out information.

Gather Testimonials

It can feel a bit awkward to ask clients, current or past, for a testimonial. However, if you do not, you are going to find yourself with less clients.

People love social proof of your skills, so having a space on your website or Facebook page for testimonials will go a long way. While written testimonials work well, short (think 60 seconds or less) video testimonials can have an even larger impact on your potential customers. Just be sure you get a consent form signed from your clients who agree to do a video testimonial for you.
