5 Signs You Aren’t Cut out for a 9–5 Job
So you can stop wasting your time
It's no surprise that your day job can be something that causes you a lot of pain. Either you don't like the job itself or the boss is unbearable to deal with.
Oh, I've been there many times.
From working as a salesgirl in a supermarket to being a manager for a big company, I've done it all - for the money.
It definitely took me a long time to figure out that the path of having a day job isn't for me. Personally, I just don't think it's wise to spend the rest of my life helping other people to build their dreams, instead of my own.
If you already know you aren’t cut out for the 9–5 jobs, welcome to the club! time to execute your plans to make sure that you’ll never come back to the cubicle life.
However, if you are still not sure yet, here I’ve rounded up these 5 signs that will help you find out whether it’s for you or not:
1. Your eyes light up every time you heard someone in your work quit to focus on their online business
How exciting that sounds, right? You want to know their stories and how did they plan it out. You start thinking maybe you need to give it a try.
That thought of leaving your comfort zone might seem scary to you right now but at the same time, you are keen to figure it out, just like that ex-co-worker of yours.
2. You aren’t excited when you get a promotion
Be it a raise or a promotion, no matter how big it is you just don’t feel as excited as you used to be. You’ll earn more but you also know that the expectations will be higher and you simply can’t afford it mentally.
You'll leave the office at the end of the day feeling burnout and empty. However, deep down you knew getting promoted to a higher position isn't going to make you feel better.
3. You start doing research on how people make money online
You consume different content all of a sudden and you seem can’t get enough of it. All of them seem really new to you but you are excited.
You keep telling yourself if those people can do it, so can you right?
I'm one of those people who constantly dreaming and looking for a way out. No matter how complicated it seems.
At the same time, doing this research will eventually inspire me to make my dreams come true. Because other people out there have proved that it's possible.
4. You feel stressed out easily at work
You used to be so strong mentally and not taking things too personally but now even if a small thing happens, it feels as you couldn’t take it anymore.
You silently tell yourself this is one of the signs that you shouldn’t be stuck here forever. Nothing feels worse than heading to bed every night and thinking tomorrow is going to stress you out already.
5. You religiously count how many hours left until you get home
8 hours suddenly feels forever. You count every hour that has passed by because you can’t wait to log off and let your mind explore, imagining all different “what-ifs scenes”.
I remember having to count how many hours left until I could go home even though it's been only 30 minutes since I started my work.
Feeling this way every day will not only make you feel low and grumpy, but people around you won't enjoy your company as you aren't being present.
Final Thoughts:
No one likes the idea to be waking up every day to only work on building someone else’s dreams. It wouldn’t give you a good feeling as if you aren’t using your full potential and experiencing life to its fullest.
If these signs give you some type of clarity, I hope you know that there’s always a way out — as long as you are willing to look for it.
Because your life isn’t meant to be spent wandering and never trying what feels right to you.
