Link building, a term that comes up on a regular basis when talking about off-page seo. It’s one of the first and the most effective off-page seo method to increase the ranking of your site. But what is link building?

Well, it’s basically external hyperlinks from high authority sites that point toward your site. By doing this even if your site is new, by getting referred by high authority websites the search engine will notice you more and give you a better ranking. But why only authority, not another site? The more the better right? Well, if it were in the past when search engines will even prioritize high-quality meta descriptions above all other factors then the term is true. But now with the advancement of search engine algorithms, quality matters more than quantity. That doesn’t mean that getting links from low authoritative sites is a bad thing, it’s just that getting a link from a high authority site is ten times more valuable, and if it’s from a .gov or .edu domain then its value becomes a hundred times more than a regular backlink. And because of this, it has become much harder to get such high-quality link references from high authority sites.

They have certain criteria that have to be met for them to provide links from their site. But don’t think it’s rocket science or anything like that. With a bit of work, playing it strategically, and with a little bit of patience, it’s actually not that hard to get high authority backlinks. Although I say that it’s different for certain domains like “.edu” or “.gov” they much harder but not impossible.

So, now to help you to get more backlinks I’m gonna share 5 wonderful strategies that I find quite helpful when building backlinks.

01. Reaching out

One of the most common and effective ways to get high-quality links is to reach out to the high-authority site and pitch your niche and content link to them through the mail.

But here’s the thing the link does necessarily has to be content like some sort of article it can be anything like a service or product link as long as it’s worth linking to. Some sites respond very fast while others may take the time you just have to have patience.

02. Guest blogging

We know nowadays instead of reading newspapers many prefer blogs. They can be accessed from any and are updated on a regular basis. They also provide useful information and interactive discussion option as well. Thus it’s one of the best places for link building. And the best way for that is to do guest blogging. Meaning blog on their blog page as gust. This way you would be able to have more control over the text that you want to use as hyperlinks that direct to your site.

03. Broken link indication

There are various sites that have expired or the original post is deleted. If such links are found on a website that leads to nowhere those are known as broken links. You could take advantage of such links and mail to sites and inform them as well as pitch them your link as a replacement.

04. Claiming mentions

There are various sites or blog posts that have mention a website but have no links to that mentioned side. Like if someone mentioned a new website like “Streaming Plug” in a blog for steamers but didn’t provide a link to their site then they can mail them for linking it to their site. Thus gain a new backlink in the process.

05. Aiming for inferior contents

Now another thing you can do is to target your competitor’s inferior content. You can pitch your own ideas and links which are more informative and are of higher quality than your competitor’s content. This way you can replace them and take away their spot.
