Love is a power that can overcome all obstacles and conquer the whole world. As a result of faith, feelings and immense respect for each other, two people became one. And we will tell the immortal stories of that love.

1. Romeo and Juliet are undoubtedly one of the most famous love stories in the world of Romeo and Juliet's love. The other name of love is Romio-Juliet. Romeo-Juliet is the timeless tragedy of William Shakespeare, the world famous English author. This tragic love story has reached the heart of the reader for ages all over the world. Romeo and Juliet's family had enmity. Two young men and women fell in love at first sight by piercing the previous fibers of two different families. Later, they ignored the family's hundreds and they got married in the midst of various dramas. After all, this boyfriend committed suicide by poisoning due to the hostility of the two families. So whenever the sacrifice for love in the world is talked about, first of all comes the name of this young couple! The death of the young couple is still shaking the people of the world in the same passion.

2. Paris and Helen

A wonderful combination of fact and fiction in Greek mythology is the world-famous epic “Iliad” by the Greek writer Homer. The name of the war is “Trojan War!” In which an entire city was destroyed - Troy! In history, which is famous as “Helen of Troy”. The most beautiful Helen was born as a result of the union of Zeus, the king of gods, and Tyndareus, the wife of Sparta, Lydia. Helen occupies the position of the most beautiful woman in world literature. Helen was married to Menelaus, the king of Sparta. Paris, the young prince of Troy, fell madly in love with Helen and kidnapped her and brought her to his kingdom. To rescue Helen, a large Greek army led by Menelaus’ brother Agamemnon set sail towards Troy. This historical war lasted for 12 long years. At one point in the war, the Greek soldiers set fire to the kingdom of Troy. In an instant, the city of Troy began to burn. Thousands of soldiers and innocent citizens died in the fire. The Greek hero Achilles was also one of Helen's suitors. So Achilles rushed to save Helen; but Paris pierced Achilles with an arrow and killed him. Helen fled, and the Greeks won. But it is still unknown whether Helen received so much from Menelaus. There has never been so much bloodshed and destruction for love in the history of the world.

3. Laila and Majnu

The medieval Iranian poet Nizami is remembered in history for his poem Laila-Majnu. He composed his poem based on the Arab myth 'Laila-Majnu'. This poem is a tragic tale of elusive love. This myth was prevalent in Arabia for centuries before the poem was written. In the history of love, especially in the Muslim society of this subcontinent, two characters, Laila and Majnu, have become timeless. This couple is considered a symbol of divine love. While studying in school, that is, since childhood, Laila and Kayes fell in love with each other. When their love came to the attention of society, the two were forbidden to meet. It is said that if Laila's father hurt Majnu, Laila would also be hurt, such was their divine love. Lonely Kayes went into exile in the desert. Due to the angry behavior of the estranged Kayes, he was called Majnun (madman). Later, a group of Bedouins came forward to help him, seeing Majnu's unyielding love, and an old Bedouin among them inspired Kayes to fight and get Laila. With their help, Laila's tribe was overthrown in a war, but even then, Laila's father did not consent to Laila's marriage to Kayes. Her father forcibly married Laila off to another place. After her husband's death, although Laila returns to Majnu, Majnu dies of extreme grief and starvation. Laila also follows the path of her love Majnu. After death, they are buried side by side. The popular saying "Two bodies, one soul" is inspired by this couple. The longing of a thirsty heart to seek the person they love even in heaven has immortalized this story.

4. Selim and Anarkali

The son of Mughal Emperor Akbar, Selim, fell in love with the beautiful dancer of the state, Anarkali. Fascinated by the beauty of Anarkali, the emperor's son Selim fell in love with her at first sight. Emperor Akbar never accepted this relationship. The emperor made various plots to prove Anarkali bad in Selim's eyes. As soon as Selim learned about his father's strategy, he declared war against his father. But Selim was easily defeated by the powerful Akbar army, and Akbar declared the death sentence of his son. Then, to save the life of his beloved Selim, Anarkali begged for Selim's life in exchange for her own life. Then, his beloved Anarkali was buried alive in front of Emperor Selim's eyes!!

5. Shah Jahan and Mumtaz

In 1612, Shah Jahan married a girl named Arjuman Banu, who was 15 years old. Later, she was the one who ruled the Mughal Empire. Emperor Shah Jahan renamed his beloved wife, the mother of his 14 children, Mumtaz Mahal. After Mumtaz's death in 1629, he decided to build a monument in his memory. It took about 20,000 workers, about 1,000 elephants, and about 20 years to complete the construction of the monument. Before the construction of the Taj Mahal was completed, Shah Jahan was deposed by his son Aurangzeb and imprisoned in the Agra Fort. He spent his last years in captivity after losing his empire. Therefore, he could not fully see the beauty of that beautiful black marble. Shah Jahan spent his last years alone in the place where the "Tajmal" was built on the banks of the Yamuna. After his death, he was buried there. As a sign of his love, he left a "Taj Mahal" among the seven great monuments of the world!

6. Mark Antony and Cleopatra

The true love story of Cleopatra and Mark Antony is discussed all over the world. Shakespeare wrote a play about these two famous historical characters. The play is still appreciated all over the world. The beautiful Egyptian queen Cleopatra and her chief general Antony fell in love with each other at first sight. The love between these two powerful people made Egypt one of the most influential countries in the world. But this love became a headache for the Roman rulers. Because this love was making Egypt strong. Ignoring royal conflicts, victories and defeats, they got married. It is believed that in order to break Antony's morale while fighting the Romans, he was told false news on the battlefield that the enemy had killed Cleopatra. Unable to bear the pain of Cleopatra's death, Antony committed suicide with his own sword. On the other hand, Queen Cleopatra also committed suicide by stabbing herself upon hearing the news of Antony's death. Shakespeare said of them, "great love demands great sacrifices!".

7. Lancelot and Guinevere

Another royal and tragic love story is the Arthurian love story of Sir Lancelot and Lady Guinevere. The wife of the English King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, fell in love with a knight named Sir Lancelot. At first, Guinevere avoided Lancelot, but due to King Arthur's neglect and contempt, Queen Guinevere eventually fell in love with him. One night, King Arthur's nephews Sir Agravain and Sir Modred sent 12 knights to Queen Guinevere's court. They attacked the couple. Lancelot managed to escape quickly, but Guinevere's fate was not so fortunate. Queen Guinevere was sentenced to be burned at the stake for adultery. Sir Lancelot was able to save his beloved Lady Guinevere by fighting, but their love divided the kingdom and they decided to separate, blaming themselves for many deaths. Lancelot spent the last days of his life in seclusion. On the other hand, Guinevere began her life as a priestess in Amesbury and died there.

8. Tristan and Isolde

The tragic love story of Tristan and Isolde has been recorded in various stories and manuscripts for centuries. It is an event that happened during the reign of King Arthur in the Middle Ages. Isolde was the princess of Ireland. She was the fiancée of King Mark of Cornwall. He entrusted his nephew Tristan with the task of bringing Princess Isolde back to his kingdom of Cornwall. But on that journey, Tristan and Isolde fell in love with each other. Although in the end, Isolde was forced to marry King Mark. But the love continued with Tristan. But their love was not kept secret in the kingdom. At one point, this love came to the attention of King Mark. He forgave both of them, but Tristan was banned from Cornwall. Tristan went to Brittany. There he met Isilt. The similarity of this young woman's name with Isilt attracted Tristan to Isilt. Later, Tristan married the woman named Isilt because of the similarity of the name with Isilt. But this marriage was never consummated, because Tristan's heart was obsessed with Isilt. At one point, Tristan became seriously ill due to the separation from Isilt. He sent a message to Isilt to visit Tristan once and send a ship. His wife told Isildur that if Isildur came, the sails would be white, and if she did not, the sails would be black. His wife, seeing the white flag on the ship, told him that the sails were black. Then Tristan decided that Isildur would not come again. Tristan thought that Isildur would not come again. Tristan died before Isildur could reach him. Isildur, heartbroken by his grief, died a few days later in her kingdom.

9. Orpheus and Eurydice

This is a blind love story from ancient Greece. Orpheus fell in love with Eurydice, the goddess of the sea, forests, and mountains. At one point, the two got married. The two lived happily ever after. The god of land and agriculture, Perseus, set his sights on Eurydice. But when Eurydice's love was not reciprocated, he tried to harm her. While running away from Perseus, Eurydice fell into a snake pit and the snake bit her leg. Hearing the heartbreaking cries of Orpheus, who was in grief, tears came to the eyes of the fairies and the gods. On the advice of the gods, Orpheus entered the underworld. Hearing his songs in the underworld, Hades' heart melted. Impressed, Hades agreed to send Eurydice to earth with Orpheus. But he made a special condition. The condition is that Orpheus must walk in front of Eurydice and that Orpheus cannot turn back until they reach the earth. But the anxious Orpheus forgets Hades' condition and suddenly turns back to see Eurydice. And then his beloved Eurydice disappears from Orpheus' life forever. It is said that the fact that music plays a big role in love or separation is inspired by the love story of Orpheus and Eurydice.

10. Napoleon and Josephine

The 26-year-old great Napoleon fell in love with the older, famous and wealthy Josephine. Both of them maintained respect and sacrifice in their relationship and through compromise they got married. But with time they fell deeply in love with each other. There were many differences in their nature, behavior, but these made their love bond stronger, so their love never faded. But finally they separated because Napoleon wanted Josephine to have a child, but Josephine was unable to bear children. So Josephine failed to fulfill Napoleon's ambition to inherit. So despite their deep attachment and love for each other, they could not live together.

Like other Greek love stories, the love of this couple also had sacrifice and abandonment. After being separated for twenty long years, they were able to meet again. The couple had been waiting for their reunion for twenty long years! Just a few days after their wedding, Odysseus had to go to war. The chances of Odysseus returning from that terrible war were very slim. Nevertheless, Penelope rejected the king and thought it better to be alone. On the other hand, Odysseus was also faithful to his wife. For the sake of her love, he rejected the love of a witch and immortal youth and returned to his wife and son. He proved this epic written by Homer, “Another name for love is waiting!” He said, “Remember that true love is worth waiting!”

12. Paolo and Francesca

Paolo and Francesca are two legendary characters from Dante’s immortal masterpiece ‘Divine Comedy’. This is a poem based on a true story. Francesca was married to a cruel man named Gianciotto. Francesca's husband, Malatesta, was a terrible criminal. Francesca spent time with her husband's younger brother, Paolo, reading a book about Lancelot and Guinevere. While spending time together, Paolo and Francesca fell in love. When their love was revealed, naturally, Francesca's husband, Gianciotto, killed them both.

13. Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler Margaret Mitchell's famous novel

'Gone with the Wind' is an immortal creation in the world of literature. Here she has given a perfect description of the continuous love and hate relationship between Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. In this novel, neither Scarlett nor Butler could realize the true usefulness of time. In this story, it is seen that the fierce dual experience has only created sensuality in them, but has not created any stability. The deceitful, restless Scarlett suffers from confusion in choosing the right life partner from among her numerous suitors. Finally, she decides to build a permanent relationship with Butler. But Scarlett's happiness, which was full of thoughts of a happy life, did not last long. Butler has moved away due to Scarlett's fickle behavior. At the end of the novel, Scarlett tries to live a new life by clinging to hope. And that's why Scarlett finally said, "Tomorrow is another day!"

14. Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester

The main character of the famous novel “Jane Eyre” by author “Charlotte Bronte” was an orphan girl who worked as a governess to look after the house of the businessman Rochester. Jane brought a spring to the life of the much older and lonely man Rochester. Neither age nor social distance could create a barrier in their love. But on the wedding day, Jane suddenly discovered that Rochester was already married. So Jane left him. Later, Jane learned that Rochester had not neglected his sick and crazy wife. He only hid this truth for fear of losing her. Later, however, in a terrible fire, Rochester lost his eyesight due to losing his house and sick wife. Finally, after a long separation, Jane returned to him. Every sentence of this novel is like a love letter!! The reader’s mind is easily moved by reading all the highly emotional writings.

15. Lewis and Ballard

“Love Letters” We Call The term I use comes from this couple. Peter Ballard goes to study at the famous Notre Dame school in Paris. At the special request of his attentive teacher, the famous philosopher Flaubert, he agrees to teach his niece Louise. The handsome Ramos was the childhood friend of Thebe, the most beautiful maiden of Babylon. They were neighbors and grew up together. But their family never accepted their relationship. So they decided to run away from home. The two were supposed to meet under a nearby mulberry tree at sunset. Thebe waited for Remos under the tree, wearing a cloth to protect her privacy. Suddenly, a hungry lion appeared in front of Thebe, and while she was running away in fear, her cloth fell off. Later, Ramos came and saw that the lion had the cloth on its face. He assumed that the lion had eaten his Thebe. So he also cut his chest with his knife. After a long time, Thebe came and saw the dead Ramos and sacrificed her life with the same knife.

17. Darcy and Elizabeth

The famous English novelist Jane Austen's timeless love story is "Pride and Prejudice". The main character of this novel is Darcy, a young man from the wealthy English society of that time. Highly educated, arrogant by nature, very arrogant and proud of his lineage, this Darcy, through various events and dramas, meets Elizabeth, the daughter of an ordinary-middle-class family. Elizabeth was the second of the five daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet always gave their daughters great freedom. The arrogant Darcy always teased Elizabeth about their social and family status. But gradually, he was fascinated by Elizabeth's appearance and qualities, and it turned into love. 18. Pocahontas and John Smith

The Indian Pathan king Powhatan was a member of the Algonquin Indians of the American state of Virginia. His daughter Pocahontas fell in love with a young man named John Smith from America at first sight. Pocahontas saved John Smith from her father's army. This love began from that feeling of gratitude. Later, they helped each other in various ways to establish themselves in society. Good relations developed between the two families. But when John Smith was injured by gunpowder in a war and left America for England, Pocahontas was falsely told that Smith was dead! And Pocahontas was also arrested at the same time to subdue her father's army. After many years of captivity, Pocahontas converted to Christianity and changed her name to "Rebecca". In the meantime, she married a man named John Rolfe and after about eight years, Rebecca came to London to find out that Smith was alive. They met by chance - that was their last meeting.

When we talk about romantic couples, the stories of Romeo-Juliet and Paris-Helen come to mind. However, there are many couples who have shaken the world, whose love stories are written in golden letters in the pages of history. One such couple is Marie and Pierre Curie. Their love has progressed for the benefit of humanity and in work. In 1891, Marie went to the French Riviera to do research because the Polish university did not allow women to do research. The talented Marie was discovered in libraries and laboratories by another talented man, the laboratory director Pierre Curie. After proposing marriage several times, they got married in 1895. In 1898, this scientific duo discovered polonium and radium. The couple won the Nobel Prize in 1903 for their contributions to physics and radioactivity.
