Here's how you can do the same and join the partner program
- Write a lot, I am posting 50 articles a month, this is a big reason why I am gaining followers so fast as a new writer.
- Join multiple publications, apply to a bunch of them, you have nothing to lose. (don't fall into the “I am a new writer, they won't want me” trap (I am guilty of this)) Some of the publications I used when I first joined and that I still use are Know Thyself Heal Thyself, New Writers Welcome, Checkmate, Writers Blokke and my own Crypto Universe. These are all publications that are easy to get into and that publish fast.
- Post the majority of your articles to publications, this will help you get views and hopefully follows. (It isn't essential, you can gain a lot of followers and views by self-publishing and by publishing in your own pub.)
- Make your own pub if you have a Medium Membership. (you can become a Member by using the link at the bottom of this article) This is beneficial because pubs might not always take in your work or take a very long time to publish and as a new writer you just want to put out as much content as you can so it greatly helps to have your own publication. My publication is Crypto Universe and every single Crypto-related article I write I only post in my publication. This is for three reasons, I get a lot of views, follows, and read time, I don't want to post my work in other crypto publications, and I also want to make the best pub on Medium for Crypto And Blockchain. (most of my best articles are in my publication) (Crypto Universe is looking for new writers so if you are interested comment on the post linked here.)
- Try using Reddit groups specific to your topic to market your writing. This strategy has worked insanely well for me. To do it, join a group, create a post, write some text and link your Medium article below. Post to as many groups as you can, when I first started I posted each article to about 20 groups and then learned what type of content does better in each different group. (For Reddit I find it is all about the text you write in the Reddit post that either gets people to click or not, so make it attractive, positive and helpful to the group.)
- Set 100 followers as a goal, (with a timeline) write it down and tell someone the goal. This will hold you accountable and help you reach the goal
- Write write and write some more, edit the best you can, and then just publish your writing. Your writing wont be perfect when you first start, it gets better the more you write. Use free tools like Grammarly to help. (I believe grammar and wrong use of punctuation can be overlooked if an article provides a ton of value. This rule excludes stupid easy to catch errors)
- Write because you enjoy writing and not because of money, fall in love with the process(the money is a side-effect bonus) (figure out your “why”)
- Don't read articles that say how to make an insane amount of money. (99.99% are just clickbait traps that gain your viewing time and give the author money) For 99.999% of people, Medium writing is not an overnight success.
Thanks for reading my article, I hope you found this article helpful and enjoyed reading it, if you did be sure to give the article a like and follow me as doing so helps me grow as a writer and share my work with more people, resulting in more people becoming better writers.
Cheers!
