President-Elect Bola Tinubu commended Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for his support to shift the Presidency to the South after the eight-year tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from Katsina State in North-West Nigeria.

Tinubu, who was inaugurating the Rumuokwuta/Rumuola Road Flyover in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, thanked Wike for his contribution to his victory during the keenly contested February 25, 2023, presidential election.

Tinubu stated that Governor Wike is a man of great integrity who took a principled stand that the Presidency must return to the South and had the courage to stand by his conviction despite the gossip and speculations.

He said he could not have won the election without the structural support from people like Wike, and thanked him for promoting unity, fairness, and championing justice.

Tinubu was really happy to meet the governor of Rivers and they talked about working together. Some other important people were there too, like the Speaker of the House of Representatives and some other governors.

The President-Elect also visited and thanked the governor for making a special day off for him. ,,There were five governors who formed a group called the G5.

They wanted the leader of their party to be from the south, but the person who won the primary was from the north. They didn’t get what they wanted, but they still supported their party in the election.

Tinubu won in 12 states and got almost two million more votes than the person who came in second, Atiku. Atiku has run for president six times now, but he still didn’t win. Another person named Obi did really well with young voters, but he didn’t get as many votes as Tinubu or Atiku.

Five governors teamed up to demand that the leader of a political party step down and be replaced by someone from the southern part of the country. They said they would only support the party's candidate for president if this happened. But the leader and the candidate didn't give in to their demands.

Before the election, one candidate met with a governor and some people were upset about it. In the end, one candidate won in some states and the other won in others. The winner, Tinubu, got the most votes overall and became the new president.

Tinubu and Wike met up on February 15th in Port Harcourt, which was one of their many public meetings. Wike said it was okay for him to meet with anyone he wanted to.

In the presidential election, Atiku didn't win in any of the G5 states, but Obi won in Enugu and Abia. Tinubu won in Oyo, Benue, and Rivers.

Tinubu, who is 70 years old, won in 12 out of Nigeria's 36 states and got the most votes overall with 8,794,726. Atiku, who is 76 years old and has run for president six times, got 6,984,520 votes. Obi, who got a lot of young people to vote for him in less than a year, finished with 6,101,533 votes.

Tinubu was really happy to have made friends with the governor of Rivers. He also said congrats to Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, who was also there, for being partners.

Tinubu went to Rivers with some important people like the Speaker of the House of Representatives and some governors. Some old governors from the APC were there too.

The President-Elect said thank you to Wike for making Wednesday a holiday because of his visit to the South-South state.

Hey guys! Guess what? The new President, Bola Tinubu, just got to Port Harcourt! He's there to check out some cool stuff that the Governor, Nyesom Wike, made happen. They're going to have a big ceremony to celebrate all the awesome projects that got done. How cool is that?
