Tell us something about your recent achievements in swimming.
Recently, I won three Gold medals and one Silver at the 58th Delhi State Aquatic Meet. At present, I’m in Bhubaneswar for the 58th Junior and Sub-Junior Nationals. Earlier this year, I also competed in the Sri Lanka Nationals in April.
Who inspired you to take up this sport?
My journey with swimming began when my elder sister took it up as a new activity. I decided to join her, and what started as a shared interest quickly evolved into a personal passion. Over time, swimming has become not just a hobby but a significant part of my life
What does your training regime look like?
My training regime is quite demanding and starts early each day. I wake up at 4 am, freshen up, and head to the swimming pool by 4:50 am. There, I begin with land warm-ups and stretches. By 5:30 am, we start our swimming practice, which typically concludes around 8 am. This routine runs from Monday to Saturday. Additionally, on Mondays and Wednesdays, we have evening practice from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Who is your favourite swimmer and why?
I don’t have a single favourite swimmer, but I admire many athletes in the sport for their dedication and achievements. I’m focused on my training and development right now.
How did Apeejay support your journey?
My school supports my swimming career in several ways. They provide flexibility in my schedule to accommodate training and competitions. Their encouragement and understanding are crucial for balancing academics and athletics. During my time with the basketball team at Apeejay School, my PT teacher played a pivotal role in shaping my fitness and strengthening my body. I am truly grateful for his guidance and support. His guidance was also instrumental in boosting my stamina, which has significantly contributed to my success in swimming.
Any special diet you follow?
I don’t follow a strict diet. I generally eat what my mother prepares. However, I make sure to include a lot of chicken, eggs, and milk in my meals.
Would you like to take up swimming professionally in future?
I’m committed to pursuing swimming professionally. I’m training hard and focusing solely on it because I truly enjoy the sport. I believe it’s important for your profession to be something you love.
What’s the most challenging part about this sport?
I find the most challenging part of swimming is that everything revolves around timing, which is directly influenced by how effectively you practice and build your stamina. Better endurance and technique lead to improved performance. I overcome these challenges by maintaining consistency and a determined attitude.
