Seeking more healthy options for feminine care

In 2022 it is still uncomfortable for many women to speak about personal care and vaginal health. A recent study led by Kolorex highlights the serious need to have more conversations around feminine health so women don't feel alone and embarrassed in their health challenges. In fact that study found that 1 in 3 women were too embarrassed to talk about vaginal health concerns even with their own primary care provider.
The fact that vaginal health and dialogue about the female body are too often considered ‘taboo’ proves that we need women willing to educate and normalize the conversations. Today we had the pleasure of interviewing Cheyenne Logan who is dedicated to doing just that.
Before getting into the interview let’s talk about just how big this market is. According to Allied Market research, the global feminine hygiene products market was valued at $38.9 billion in 2020, and is projected to reach $68.7 billion by 2030. Even with those large numbers, only a small percentage of the market is owned by women of color. That’s another reason why Cheyenne’s work is so important.
•Tell us a little about yourself.
Cheyenne: I am a mom of two, a working professional, friend and entrepreneur. I love community based work and being of service to my community. I am a resource for networking, feminine hygiene education, and tasteful communication on healthy sex practices.

•What is your brand's mission statement?
Cheyenne: It is my hope that through the education, products and services provided by My Love Spot, women begin to seek safe natural ways to care for their femine health, hygiene and open up the conversation about things we deal with but rarely discuss aloud.
•What was the inspiration behind starting your business?
Cheyenne: I was inspired to start my business through a personal experience concerning a certain form of birth control and how my body responded negatively to it. It started a conversation many of my friends would not have spoken on if it were not for my being so open. It made me research and consider ancient practice for women of color and herbal medicines. Two years later, I started My Love Spot.
•What is your definition of self love?
Cheyenne: Self Love can only be defined by those who really know themselves if you ask me. I think it is custom to each individual and their experiences. But overall Self Love is knowing exactly who you are and knowing how to care for yourself in a way only you can.
•Women's history month is coming up. Give me 2 women you look up to and why.
Cheyenne: I look up to Maya Angelou for her ability to really articulate her feelings, her life story and experiences, unapologetically. She lived all facets of the Woman experience, if you ask me, and still maintained a level of class while giving herself grace for her shortcomings. We as women can learn a lot from that.
I look up to Erykah Badu for being a woman that owns her expression of herself, sets trends, openly speaks on her femine powers and does not care to follow a mainstream for her path in life.
•Do you have any upcoming events you’d like to talk about?
Cheyenne: I have a Let's Talk About Sex event in Boston, MA Thursday April 7th. A live interactive panel style conversation about sex, sex education, miseducation and separating sex and sexuality. I feel like the African American community is the last to be properly educated on this topic as well. We owe it to ourselves to open up and catch up to who we are in that aspect of ourselves too.

•How can our readers connect with you?
Cheyenne: I can be reached on Instagram at MyLoveSpot_ or through Facebook at Love Spot. I can also be emailed for info sessions, services or product inquiries at [email protected]
