Hi Kacey, thanks for taking some time to share details with us on your new EP “Seeing Stars” – let’s jump right in!
• The EP blends indie pop, synth pop, and classic rock. How did you navigate these different sonic landscapes to create a cohesive sound for "Seeing Stars"?
The different sonic landscapes in my EP help to enhance conveyed emotions in the specific tracks. I wasn’t necessarily overthinking the sound and just went with the flow in my songwriting process, creating cohesion via my unique voice as a songwriter.
• You've mentioned the EP explores the "dizzying confusion within relationships" and the "tendency to idealize romantic interests." Can you elaborate on a specific experience or observation that informed these lyrical themes?
All of the songs on Seeing Stars are based on personal experiences of mine and my friends. So there’s not one specific experience that informed the whole EP—instead it’s a collection of memories and emotions that tell a story.
• You co-wrote all the tracks on "Seeing Stars." What does the collaborative process with producers like Mike Pepe, David Hugo, Sam Beresford, and Robbie Rosen bring to your songwriting and overall vision for the EP?
I love working with different producers—collaboration is so important to my creative process and always looks very different. For instance, I wrote “Right Past Me’ alone in my bedroom on my guitar over the course of a few weeks and then worked with Robbie Rosen to polish and produce it. “Saving Face,” on the other hand, was thought up and written entirely on the spot during a session with David Hugo. So it definitely varies!
• Each producer brought their unique touch to different tracks. Can you discuss how working with each of them shaped the individual sound and feel of those specific songs?
All these producers are extremely talented, and they put in a lot of time and energy to make these tracks sound perfect. Each producer brought a unique vision and each song ended up sounding exactly right. It always feels great to have a co-writer who can enhance your songwriting process. I am extremely grateful to work with them all and I am looking forward to more collaborations in the future.
• Having recorded in both Los Angeles and New York City, did the different environments influence the creative process or the sonic textures of "Seeing Stars" in any way?
Both cities bring different flavors to my songwriting process. I attend college in New York City, so my life is very fast paced and busy here. Los Angeles is my home base, so I feel more nostalgic and relaxed there. This combination works out great as I am inspired in different ways to write.
• You've expressed a desire to foster a sense of unity through your music, emphasizing that "we are not alone in our feelings." How do you hope "Seeing Stars" resonates with listeners on an emotional level and fosters this sense of connection?
I want my music to unite listeners and make them feel understood. We are never alone in our feelings. Hopefully listening to “Seeing Stars” will bring them sense of excitement, peace and closure. I can’t wait for everyone to hear “Seeing Stars”!

• You're looking forward to performing live. How do you envision the songs from "Seeing Stars" translating to a live performance setting, and what can fans expect from your upcoming shows?
I have already performed multiple songs from Seeing Stars! My latest show was in New York’s iconic Mercury Lounge. Fans can always expect lively and fun shows, so they need to subscribe to my email list to be the first ones to know where I am playing next! www.kaceyfifield.com
• Beyond live performances, are there any other ways you plan to connect with your audience around the release of "Seeing Stars," such as through visuals or social media?
I may have a few ideas in mind but I can’t disclose much so please follow my journey on my socials for more!
• With two EPs and an album already under your belt, how do you feel your growth as a songwriter and artist is reflected in "Seeing Stars"?
I am currently in my sophomore year of college, so my experiences are definitely different than when I was still in high school and that’s reflected in “Seeing Stars.” I have evolved both personally and artistically as I have grown into the person that I am today. “Seeing Stars” is my most mature body of work since I am no longer a teen.
• What are you most proud of about "Seeing Stars," and what do you hope listeners take away from experiencing this EP?
I’m super proud of the lyrics—each song has so many layers and Easter eggs and references so I’m excited for people to really listen and dig in. I love listening to it myself and I hope it brings my listeners a sense of unity and closure in their emotional and romantic journey.
