It was a cool autumn afternoon when Lisa and Mark sat down on the park bench to catch up after a long week of classes. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden hue over the quiet neighborhood, and the gentle rustling of leaves added a peaceful backdrop to their conversation. Today, they decided to do something different—an informal interview about their lives, aspirations, and thoughts about school.

Lisa, always the curious one, adjusted her backpack and looked at Mark with a playful smile. “So, Mark, I thought it’d be fun to do a little interview. Just to get to know each other better, you know?”

Mark chuckled, leaning back on the bench. “Sure! I’ve never done an interview before, but I’m game. Fire away.”

“Alright,” Lisa began, pulling out her phone to act as a recording device. “First question: What motivated you to choose our major?”

Mark thought for a moment, scratching his head. “Honestly, I’ve always been fascinated by technology. Ever since I was a kid, I loved tinkering with gadgets and figuring out how things work. When I learned about computer science, it felt like the perfect fit. Plus, I think it’s exciting to be part of an industry that’s constantly changing.”

Lisa nodded appreciatively. “That’s cool. I chose our major because I’ve always enjoyed storytelling and creative writing. I want to be a novelist someday, and I figured studying literature and writing would help me improve my skills. Plus, I love analyzing stories and understanding what makes them work.”

Mark smiled. “So, we’re both pursuing our passions in different ways. That’s pretty awesome. Next question: What’s been your biggest challenge at school so far?”

Lisa sighed, her expression turning thoughtful. “Definitely balancing everything—classes, deadlines, extracurriculars. Sometimes it feels overwhelming trying to keep up with assignments while also having a social life. But I guess that’s part of the college experience, right?”

Mark nodded in agreement. “For me, it’s been managing my time between studying and coding projects. Sometimes I get so caught up in solving a tricky problem that I forget to eat or sleep. But I’ve learned to prioritize better over time.”

“Good skills to have,” Lisa said with a grin. “Now, here’s a fun one: If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would it be?”

Mark thought for a moment. “That’s easy—Elon Musk. I’d love to hear his ideas about the future, space exploration, and innovation. Plus, I bet he’d have some crazy stories to tell.”

Lisa laughed. “Nice choice. I’d probably go with J.K. Rowling. I’ve always admired her creativity and how she built such an incredible world with Harry Potter. It would be inspiring to hear her talk about her writing process.”

They both chuckled at the thought, then Mark asked, “What’s a hobby or activity you enjoy outside of school?”

Lisa’s eyes lit up. “I love painting. It’s a great way to relax and express myself. Sometimes I get so caught up in colors and brushstrokes that I forget about everything else. What about you?”

Mark grinned. “I’m into gaming and coding side projects. I enjoy creating little apps or games in my free time. It’s like building my own little universe.”

Lisa nodded enthusiastically. “That’s pretty cool. Maybe someday you can show me some of your games.”

“Definitely!” Mark said. “And maybe you can paint me a portrait sometime?”

They both laughed, feeling comfortable and relaxed in each other’s company.

As the conversation continued, Lisa asked, “Where do you see yourself in five years?”

Mark hesitated slightly. “Honestly, I hope to be working at a tech company or maybe even start my own startup. I want to make a difference with my work, maybe develop something that helps people. How about you?”

“I want to be a published author,” Lisa said softly. “Maybe living somewhere quiet, writing stories that inspire others. I know it’s a tough path, but I’m willing to work for it.”

They paused for a moment, both lost in their thoughts, appreciating how much they had shared in just a short time.

Finally, Lisa looked at her notes and said, “Last question: What advice would you give to someone starting college?”

Mark smiled warmly. “Don’t be afraid to try new things and make mistakes. It’s all part of learning and growing. Also, don’t forget to enjoy the little moments—they’re what make this time memorable.”

Lisa nodded. “Great advice. I’d add: stay curious and keep an open mind. College is about discovering who you are and what you love.”

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows, they packed up their things, feeling thankful for the honest and fun conversation. Their casual interview had turned into a reflection on dreams, challenges, and friendship. With a shared smile, they headed toward their dorms, already looking forward to their next chat.

This simple exchange reminded them that sometimes, the best conversations happen unexpectedly—revealing not just facts, but the heart and hopes behind them.
