Interview: Actor & Military Veteran Brian Hall
Brian Hall is known for his role in 2010's "Moby Dick".

Brian Hall was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. He was the son of Dennis and Sandra Hall. His father was an accounting manager for a huge parts company. His mother runs a daycare business. He attended William Byrd High School where he excelled in sports like wrestling, football, and martial arts.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Persian Gulf War and receiving an Associate's Degree from ECPI, Brian dove into a career in acting. In 2007, he packed up his Nissan Sentra and headed to Hollywood with a few grand in his pocket.
Since then Brian has appeared in many films, such as "Dark Tourist" with Melanie Griffith, "Moby Dick" alongside Barry Bostwick, "Wedding Day" with C. Thomas Howell, "Can't Hardly Wait" with Jennifer Love Hewitt, and the television series, "Slaphouse".
How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
I was studying Martial Arts and my teacher recommended I auditioned for theater. So I did and I got the part and it all took off from there.
What upcoming projects can you share with us?
I just worked with Peter Facinelli last week in the film “Unwinding”. I booked a prison guard role in the film “Wages of Sin” and a role in “Scars”, which is about the struggles veterans like myself go through.
What’s the most memorable moment in your career to date?
When I worked on the 2010 "Moby Dick" film as the chief Stubs.
Who would be your dream person to work with?
I would love to work with John Travolta.
What’s your favorite movie of all time and why?
“Saturday Night Fever” because I love John Travolta. I practiced his moves so much that I won a dance competition.
If you could play any character from a book or comic in a film adaptation, who would you pick and why?
I would pick Leonardo DiCaprio just because he can do anything. He nails any character he plays.
What would you say your biggest strength is as a performer?
Being able to get into a character role very quickly with not a lot of work on it.
What’s your favorite thing about being on a movie set?
It’s really the rush of excitement of being on set. It’s an escape from reality and it’s awesome being a different character each time.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?
Don’t do it unless it's something you really want to do because it's a lot of hard work so you really need to love it.
What’s the best piece of advice that you received in the entertainment industry?
When I first got into the entertainment industry I thought I was going to move so fast and sore high. I realized it’s extremely difficult to get to that stage. You need to work so hard. I still think about how those famous actors made it to this day!
