How To Defeat The Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) & Emotify Assessment

From Panic to Pass: How I Hacked My Way Through the CCAT

Sample Question From Logic Portion Of CCAT Exam

I am preparing to take this assessment. I have come across a few free practice questions however the majority of the sources are leading to purchasing a product: either x-amount of dollars for x-amount of live practice assessments, or an answer guide (not sure if the questions are universal or if it is possible to purchase a guide and have completely different questions presented in the actual assessment).

Some pointers I have come across are:

1. The CCAT is a fast-paced test. You have 15 minutes to answer 50 questions (18 seconds per question).

2. There is a huge variety of questions:

  • Numerical: Word Problems, Number / Letter Series, Table & Graphs
  • Verbal: Antonyms, Word Analogies, Sentence Completion
  • Abstract: Next in Series, Odd one Out, Matrices
  • Logic: Syllogisms, Seating Arrangements, Error Checking

3. The test is taken online.

  • It is possible to be called in for an on-site assessment (I am applying for a remote position with the home office out-of-state so I highly doubt I will be called in to take the assessment in person).

4. You are not allowed to use a calculator (yeah right lol).

5. It is crucial to pass it on your first try in order to get accepted to the position you are applying for.

6. Every position requires a different CCAT score. The score represents the number of correct answers submitted:

Job Title CCAT Score Range

Sales Representative 21-35

Sales Manager 23-37

Senior Manager / VP 29-42

Software Engineer 23-40

Project Manager 22-37

Product Manager 26-41

Analyst 26-42

One "hack" I came across is to take the assessment under a false account from a VPN to record the questions and then logoff of the VPN/change IPs to take the actual assessment after reviewing the answers: I would beware of this method as it is not expected to answer ALL 50 questions (only ~1% of the population is able to accomplish this) let alone answer all 50 questions correctly (may come off as "sus" to the company you are taking the assessment for).

I was hesitant to take the assessment twice under two different profiles as I do not want to raise suspension in the case of the company sending x-amount of invites and they have an additional test taker registering so I tried a different approach.

I went to the link for the assessment, saved the invite code and continued. I went to the screen that says "Aptitude Assessment: The assessment measures your aptitude in areas such as critical thinking and problem-solving. This helps you demonstrate your potential to employers, beyond what appears in your resume. Answer each question carefully, but do not spend too much time on any one question. If you can't determine the answer to a question you should select an answer and move on. You will receive one point for each correct answer. No points are deducted for incorrect answers. The questions become more difficult as the assessment progresses."

From here I launched the browser in Developer Mode (I was using Firefox however Chrome may work just as well). From here I scrolled through the files under the "Network" tab. By hovering over certain files (i.e. those ending in .png) I was able to see some of the questions (some included the multiple choice answers).

I would suggest studying what is provided prior to starting the assessment. I was able to copy the URL to the questions into Google Lens to search the images discovered. Brainly.com (available via both web browser as well as app) provided a lot of answers to similar questions which assisted in finding the pattern of the sequence. Searching for answers via AI is also a viable option if you are not wanting to waste too much of your own brain juice.

Another great source for information as well as a few answers (some of the answers here were on the actual assessment I completed) is https://av-krishnan.medium.com/.

I was unable to retrieve any data from the Emotify Assessment. The questions were fairly simple and some seemed as if there were no "right or wrong" answers. There was a time where they would give an emotion and you select the face displaying the emotion, another where there was a face and an emotion and you select if they match or not, another where a scenario was described and you had to select the face aligning with the emotion that would be felt, and the last scenario takes you through your first week at work and you must decide which option keeps you on track of maintaining your goal while keeping everyone involved in the scenario happy.

If you have any additional suggestions please be sure to share.

Good Luck ;-D
