Hello, Vocal family! This post is long overdue, and I want to reintroduce myself. I’ve had this account for four years, quietly sharing my thoughts and ideas while mostly observing from the sidelines. It’s time to step out of the shadows and properly introduce myself. Reflecting on my past writings, I've yet to share my personal story, the essence of who I am, and the driving force behind my actions. Whether you're a new supporter or have been with me for a while, I’m thrilled to connect with you.

WHO AM I

My name is Musulyn (pronounced muse-Ah-lean), but you can call me Muse. I’m also thrilled to introduce myself as the reigning Miss New Westminster North America World 2024 and a delegate for Miss Universe Canada 2025. The platforms of Miss Westminster and Miss Universe have and continue to provide me with a safe space to embrace my passions, authenticity, and commitment to my values. Through pageantry, I have been afforded the oppurtunity to share my advocacy, empower others, and affirm that every struggle, hardship or setback is a stepping stone toward a brighter and resilient future.

I am a proud immigrant and Canadian citizen originally from the country Liberia. Fluent in English, Arabic, and French, with an educational background in business administration, Natural Nutrition, and holistic health. I am also a commercial actress and model. My business administration and marketing background has blended with my passion for acting, modelling, and writing. As a Holistic Nutritionist, I focus on the interconnection of all dimensions of wellness—from physical, Mental, and emotional to spiritual—and strive to inspire change through traditional and alternative holistic practices.

MY STORY & JOURNEY

I was born in Monrovia, the capital city, in the year 1998 during the Civil War, a time of horrendous time of bloodshed and conflict in Liberia; my family’s journey eventually brought us to Canada. After my family was separated and some members were killed, my father arranged for those of us who survived to flee to Kenya, where we experienced a privileged lifestyle and had access to education. By the early 2000s, he decided it was best for us to immigrate to Canada. I was raised in the city of Champions, Edmonton, and now live amidst the natural beauty of British Columbia.

This story begins with immigration, and the journey is far from perfect. We not only witnessed violence, prejudice, and discrimination, but we also faced challenges in a new land, often being treated like second-class citizens. My life has been an evolving tapestry of challenges, resilience, and triumphs. I've faced personal struggles such as (Racism, betrayal, domestic and child abuse, sexual violence, loss, health crisis, and homelessness), but these experiences have only strengthened my resolve and shaped me into who I am today. These experiences have fueled my advocacy work as I strive to help others facing similar challenges.

ADVOCACY & INITIATIVES

Life’s challenges have uniquely shaped me into a passionate and determined advocate for positive change.

I’m excited and honoured to introduce my latest initiative, the Compassion Project. In partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association in Windsor, as part of my humanitarian project proposal with miss Universe this project aims to shed light on not only mental health but also addiction recovery and the pressing homelessness crisis in Canada. It’s a cause that deeply resonates with me, and I’m eager to make a meaningful impact.

My advocacy work spans global health, human rights, gender equality, and the arts, and I proudly serve as an ambassador for Amnesty International. I wholeheartedly believe in equal access, universal healthcare and blending traditional and alternative holistic practices. This integration enhances mental, physical, and spiritual well-being, champions environmental sustainability, and protects human rights.

Health advocacy is about delivering support directly to individuals and ensuring everyone in our communities has equal access to healthcare. I've faced challenges and hope to share those personal lessons on my podcast or my upcoming books. Yet today, I stand here with passion, strength, and an unwavering sense of resilience. I believe Perseverance is the key to overcoming obstacles.

I believe in leveraging every opportunity to drive meaningful change. I aim to use platforms like Vocal, YouTube, Patreon, Instagram, and my blog to highlight real-life issues and promote greater wellness. Through my social media and digital presence, I want my audience to follow my journey's adventures, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments. By combining these platforms, I aim to address real-life challenges, promote environmental sustainability, and advocate for universal access to health and protection of all human rights.
