From a Dorm Room to a Thriving Business

How I Launched My Own Professional Business Starting Only with a Home-Based Packaging Job

The following story is a real-life account from one of the job seekers who worked with Variankar. It's a powerful example of how a simple work-from-home opportunity can evolve into a life-changing business — and how Variankar played a vital role in making that transformation possible.

When I entered university, I was just a freshman studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering. My family had gone through a lot to get me there. In fact, my father had to sell his old 2006 Pride black car - he had used for years to make a living - just to afford my initial university expenses. Part of that money went toward my education, and the rest was used to pay off family debts.

From the very first day I moved into the dormitory, I made a promise to myself: I would stand on my own two feet. I didn’t want to just cover my own living expenses — I wanted to repay my family for their sacrifices. But the part-time jobs available to students barely paid anything and didn’t fit with my class schedule. Getting a loan wasn’t easy either; it required a guarantor and lots of paperwork.

That’s when I discovered an organization called Variankar. They didn’t just give me a chance to earn money through at-home packaging work — they also helped me obtain an official business license from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade. That license became a golden key that opened many doors.

With that license in hand, I was able to secure a 350 million toman loan — without needing a guarantor. I used 50 million tomans to obtain a place in a local Science and Technology Park so I could formally launch my startup. Until I was fully operational, I kept repaying my loan through the packaging work, which only took about two hours of my day. Despite the limited hours, it was enough to cover my basic expenses and keep me going.

My idea was to design custom PCB boards for lighting systems using Altium Designer. These boards would then be printed onto copper sheets using the silk-screen method. I brought a few classmates on board, and together we began working on the concept.

The turning point came when, through one of my professors, I met the project lead for lighting the facade of the National Bank’s main building. I designed a special lighting effect for them using DIALux, which beautifully illuminated the building at night. The project, from design to full installation, turned into a 3 billion toman contract.

We began by ordering 50 custom projector brackets from a manufacturing company within the tech park. A friend helped us acquire LED profiles in bulk - over 1,000 meters - and we purchased a large number of SMD LEDs as well. The entire 50 million toman prepayment we received was used for these materials. We had to pay for copper boards, emulsions, retarders, acids, and stencils from our own pockets. Even our light table was handmade - we stuck strips of LEDs onto an old shoebox.

Eventually, we assembled all 50 LED panels and installed the 1,000 meters of LED strips. From the initial lighting design to final implementation, the project took just a month and a half. The result? A dazzling emerald - blue building - and a 2.5 billion toman profit that changed my life forever.

Today, my company specializes in designing and manufacturing LED boards, and we’ve completed a wide range of projects. Honestly, none of this would’ve been possible without that first opportunity provided by Variankar. They didn’t just offer me a job — they gave me the chance to bring my dreams to life.

So if you’re standing at a crossroads, unsure where to begin, maybe this is the spark you’ve been waiting for.
