From the streets of Algeria to VEVO screens, ALI D tells his story, his struggles, and his dreams

“One day we all leave, but we must leave something behind in our name.” – ALI D
From the heart of Setif, Algeria, emerges a bold voice with raw energy and unfiltered stories. ALI D, also known as FOREALID, isn’t just another rapper — he’s a storyteller, a dreamer, and a creator building his legacy track by track. Born in 2003, his journey began with scribbled rhymes and big ambitions. Today, he’s making noise beyond the local scene, stepping into the spotlight without losing his roots.
His unique vision, musical honesty, and determination caught our attention — so we decided to sit down with him for an exclusive interview to better understand the person behind the name, the music, and the movement.
⸻
1. Who is ALI D? How did it all begin?
ALI D is a young Algerian rapper, born in 2003. I’ve been into rap for over a decade now. It all started when I was just a kid, trying to write lyrics with my cousin. We loved rap and wanted to try making it ourselves.
⸻
2. Do you remember the first song you wrote?
Honestly, I don’t clearly remember the very first song — it’s been more than 10 years since I started experimenting with writing.
⸻
3. Who inspired you to get into music?
My biggest inspiration is Sofiane Zermani (Fianso). His journey as an artist is what every passionate rapper dreams of. I hope that one day I can achieve what he did — inchallah.
⸻
4. How would you describe your rap style? What makes you unique?
I’d say I’m just unique compared to my generation and surroundings. I bring something different that reflects who I am and where I come from.
⸻
5. What themes do you usually talk about in your songs?
Mainly, I talk about the artist life I dream of, and also my current life. My music is a reflection of both reality and aspiration.
⸻
6. What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Music in general is made to bring peace, relief, and joy to listeners — and that’s exactly my goal.
⸻
7. What projects have you released so far?
I’ve released a mixtape called “V’ALI D”, and an EP in collaboration with L’MOON titled “ANARCHIE”.
⸻
8. Do you make music videos? Tell us more.
Yes, I’ve released 5 music videos, and I have 10 more that I haven’t published yet. My most recent release was distributed by VEVO — it’s a collaboration with Moundjed Wali, a traditional Staïfi artist. The track is called “REINE & PARRAIN”, and it tells a love story between a woman and a gangster who dreams of being a “don” and naming his lover his queen.
⸻
9. What’s next for ALI D?
Right now, I’m thinking seriously about cinema. It’s a new chapter I want to explore.
⸻
10. How do you manage all your talents — rapper, actor, programmer…?
I treat everything I do as a passion. I don’t see it as pressure. It’s just art in different forms.
⸻
11. What does fame mean to you?
Honestly, I don’t want to be famous. I just want to work and leave my name in history. One day we all leave, but it’s important to leave something behind that speaks your name.
⸻
12. What message do you want to give to the next generation?
Be brave and courageous.
⸻
He doesn’t seek to go viral, he seeks to be remembered — one verse at a time.
