Christy Mack opens up about horrific domestic violence attack

Christy Mack, an adult film star and model, shared chilling details with Real Sports host Bryant Gumbel about a violent assault she allegedly suffered at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, MMA fighter War Machine (born Jon Koppenhaver), in her Las Vegas home on August 8, 2014. Mack expressed deep fear that if War Machine were ever released from prison, he would kill her, a haunting concern rooted in the brutality she endured.

The alleged attack came to public attention ten days later when Clark County, Nevada, police released documents containing Mack’s written statement. According to Mack, she was in bed with her friend Corey Thomas when War Machine entered her home uninvited. The fighter allegedly attacked Thomas first, beating him severely before turning his rage on Mack. During the assault, Mack managed to call 911 and place her phone on a nearby table, capturing her screams in the recording. The violence was so severe that Mack suffered a ruptured liver from being kicked in the side. She also alleged that War Machine attempted to rape her during the attack but was unable to maintain an erection, adding to the trauma of the night.

The alleged assault was revealed ten days after August 8, 2014, when police in Clark County, Nevada, released documents containing a written statement given by Mack.

On the night of August 8, Mack was in bed with her friend, Corey Thomas, when War Machine allegedly entered her home and beat Mr Thomas before turning his attention to her.

Mack had called 911 and put her phone on a nearby table. In the recording she can be heard screaming. During the alleged attack, Mack’s liver was ruptured due to being kicked in the side.

She also claimed War Machine intended to rape her but was unable to maintain an erection.

War Machine was arrested on August 15 in California, and is currently in jail awaiting trial for 32 criminal charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon, sexual assault and kidnapping with a deadly weapon – all of which relate to the alleged beating.

During the interview with Gumbel Mack said that during her on-again, off-again relationship with War Machine, he regularly put her in a chokehold — a move common in his sport — and that she never fought back when she was allegedly attacked because she knew she couldn’t defend herself.

In a letter to HBO Sports, War Machine defended his actions, claiming he was “ambushed” when he walked into Mack’s home.

In October 2014, War Machine attempted suicide in prison. A note released by TMZ stated he was hurt by the way Mack cared for Mr Thomas and protected him during the alleged assault.

The case has drawn significant attention due to War Machine’s notoriety as an MMA fighter and Mack’s prominence in the adult entertainment industry.
