The day had been a long one, Moving into a new place involved so much work and she was exhausted. They had the last load in the truck, and just the thought of having to unload and set up her bed when they got to the new place made her want to cry!

It was late and she wanted to get going, she let the guys know she would meet them there and headed out ahead of them. Her whole body ached and felt heavy, afraid she would fall asleep, she rolled down her windows and turn up the radio. The air felt good as it flowed around her, it smelled of summer and reminded her that she had much to be thankful for. After all she had her brother and his friends and all their help and the move was almost over.

She stopped at the nearest convenience store and got herself a large turbo blend coffee hoping that would keep her awake while driving. It definitely worked! By the time she arrived at her new place she was singing along with the radio. Maybe she should have bought a smaller coffee that was not so strong she thought as she pulled in. When the guys arrived shortly after her they found her in the kitchen, elbows deep in boxes.

"Well look at you Kimmy!" "We thought we would have to wake you when we got here, what the heck woke you up" her brother Kevin mischievously asked. "I was afraid I would fall asleep so I stopped and got a large turbo coffee, maybe I shouldn't have gotten a large! she giggled. "Well it's good to see a smile on your face!" Jeremy teased her. "Tell you what sis, you just keep doin what your doin and let us guys unload the truck and get your bed set up for you, hopefully that coffee will wear off a bit by then" Kevin said as the three of them headed back out the door.

"Thanks guys" she yelled to them and kept on unpacking the kitchen. She could hear them huffing and puffing as they brought in her heavy bed and dresser and the last of the boxes, that's when she smelled it, that distinct skunky smell of good, really good, marijuana. They had become quite the coinsures since it had been legalized in their state. Jack came around the corner and offered her a toke. She had long had a crush on Kevin's best friend Jack and welcomed any attention from him.

Would you like some of this? he asked. Naturally, she wanted to impress him so she indulged taking two big tokes. "Thanks Jack, maybe this will help take the edge off that coffee and I'll sleep good tonight". In that case take another hit he told her, and against her better judgement she did. It wasn't long before she was giggling and making a fool of herself, she knew she was a lightweight and three tokes was a bit much but she didn't think it would make her all that goofy. The guys had laughed with her and Kevin gave her a hard time before they headed back outside.

She soon realized that her house was silent, they had not gone to get the last of the boxes they had left and she was all alone in a new house that suddenly felt very creepy. She tried to relax but the lump in her throat grew with the silence, and she swore there was someone watching her through the windows. Her windows, there was not a curtain on one of them. No matter where she was she was exposed! She felt panic set in and her stomach began to shake as much as her hands as she ducked and weaved from window to window making sure they were locked, as well as the doors.

She realized she was paranoid, and knew she must look ridiculous but even in realizing this she found no relief! She had to stop herself from calling Kevin and asking him to come back because she was "scared".. Oh! He would love that! She wished she could sleep. But instead she strategically positioned herself in the living room in a spot were she could not be seen from any angle of her windows and there she sat, frozen, wide awake, and stoned, telling herself this is insane for what seemed like hours.

By the time the first sign of day break came her body was stiff and her neck would not move at all. Her eyes were scratchy, her head ached, and her bladder was full from all that coffee. She slowly and painfully walked straight to her bathroom, barely made it to the toilet, relieved herself, then ran herself a hot bath, made her way to the kitchen and made the biggest bowl of cereal which she took with her back to her tub.

As the birds chirped and the daylight shined brighter through her windows she sat soaking in the hot tub, munching on her cereal. Then she began to giggle until she found herself laughing uncontrollably as she envisioned her antics in her earlier state of mind. When she was able to gain control she thought to herself "had anyone seen me then or now they would have had me committed for sure!"

It wasn't until the sun had completely come up that she raised herself from the tub, made her way to her bed and snuggled in for what turned out to be one of the best sleeps she had ever experienced.

Her last thought as she drifted off.. "No more turbo coffee and marijuana combos for you lightweight!"
