Lack of self-confidence

By WALL_EPublished about a year ago 3 min read
Face the audience and stand in front of them at stage is the first step of start giving speeches.

Hello and welcome the topic which I am going to talk about in this story is become one of my favorite topics now but at the time when I start this thing, I was always worried about it. This topic might be very scary for some of you and while reading this story some of you might even get goosebumps.

Imagine you are entering in a room full of people and all of those people are looking at you, sounds weird and strange but it might get even scary, when you have to speak in front of these people. The people who are seating on the chairs or benches and you have to stand in front of these people on the stage and you have to just speak, speak and speak. Sounds scary and yes, you have guessed it right I am talking about giving speeches or speaking in public.

I know speaking in public and giving speeches are one of those tasks in which everyone gets nervous even though how much experienced someone is, how many good speeches someone had given or even if someone is a very good speaker but still it is normal to get nervous before giving speeches.

Now imagine that you are practicing your speech and seating along with those audience whom in front of you have to speak and you are also looking at the stage, continuously opening and closing your eyes while practicing your speech and in that moment the speaker standing at the stage called your name to speak. At that moment when you are called you would get confuse and it may be difficult for you to go the stage.

Such type of incidents would obviously be happened to almost, each and every one of us and this type of scary incident happened to me also when I was enrolled in the Public Speaking course. When I was studying this course, I had to face this situation every week where I have to give speech and whenever my name was called my heart start beating fast and my mind starts a song on loop, a song named “Heart Attack” by Demi Lovato and because of the situation I always thought that I would get a heart attack.

While I was enrolled in the Public Speaking course, every week when I was assigned with different type of speech and whenever I was preparing my speech and start practicing my speech at home a very creepy, scary and a full of embarrassment moment always came across my eyes and made me worry that while giving my speech if I start singing a song then what would happen and that stupid thought made me even more nervous.

Having a stupid thought of singing a song while giving speech which made me nervous but that stupid and scary thought also made me smile at the same time. Along having a fear of speak something wrong by mistake which turned out to be weird can put me in some kind embarrassment situation. People who were always in front of me and having that fear that they are looking at me. But thing is that this type of fear and thoughts does nothing when we speak in front people more than 1 to 3 times because of that all of us start gaining self-confidence.

Saying, giving speeches is scary but at the end it is just in our mind that everyone is making fun of us and every one would laugh at us while we give speech but thing is the audience want you to speak write they want you to give speech with confidence. When we are giving speech and of course when we just start giving speeches at that time because our those starting speeches are very boring and no one even understand that what are we saying but after giving 3 to 4 speeches we begin to know how to give speeches and how to drag audience attention. To overcome the anxiety while giving speeches is to start speaking for 2 minutes daily on any random topic whenever you are free.
