Different Ways To Reach Home

Because “going home” isn’t always as simple as it sounds

By Zakir UllahPublished 5 months ago 3 min read

Reaching home should be the simplest task in life. Open the door, walk inside, collapse dramatically onto the couch. Easy, right?

Wrong.

For some reason, humanity has turned “going home” into an Olympic sport, complete with unnecessary struggles, questionable decisions, and stories that make great comedy later. Here are some of the funniest, strangest, and all-too-relatable ways we try to get home.

1. The “Google Maps Betrayal” Method

You trust technology because it’s 2025 and Siri sounds more confident than you ever will. She tells you, “Turn left in 200 feet,” so you do. Suddenly, you’re in a dead-end alley, facing a cat that looks like it owns the block.

Congratulations—you’ve just added 30 unnecessary minutes to your journey home.

2. The “Public Transport Adventure

You think you’ll save time and money by hopping on a bus. Cute idea. Except the driver clearly has taken a vow to stop at every corner—sometimes even when no one is there. By the time you finally reach your stop, you’ve aged two years and eaten all your snacks.

3. The “Walk of Confidence”

This is when you pretend you know exactly where you’re going. Your friends ask, “Are you sure this is the way?” and you respond, “Of course, trust me.” Spoiler: they will never trust you again.

Twenty minutes later, you’re standing in front of a stranger’s house that looks suspiciously like your own, except it isn’t. Now you’re Googling “how to disappear gracefully.

4. The “Taxi Horror Story

Sometimes you call a cab thinking, Finally, an easy ride home. But the driver has other plans. They want to discuss conspiracy theories, traffic politics, and why pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza. By the end of the ride, you’re more emotionally drained than physically tired. Your house feels less like “home” and more like a therapy recovery center.

5. The “Weather Challenge

Try getting home when the weather decides to ruin your life. Rain? You’re soaked like a dramatic movie character. Snow? You’re an ice sculpture with regrets. Heatwave? You’re considering moving into the nearest convenience store fridge.

Sometimes you don’t “reach home”—you crawl, defeated, while your socks make that awful squelch-squelch noise.

6. The “Late-Night Comedy Show”

After a long night out, making it home is less of a journey and more of a survival reality show. You drop your keys three times, try to open your neighbor’s door, and suddenly discover that stairs have become your sworn enemy.

Your final triumph is collapsing into bed with your shoes still on. Honestly? You deserve a medal.

7. The “Magical Shortcut That Isn’t”

Every friend has that one shortcut they swear by. “Don’t worry, I know a faster way,” they say, leading you through suspicious backstreets. Next thing you know, you’re lost, your phone is dead, and you’re wondering if you’ll have to start a new life in this neighborhood.

8. The “Unexpected Workout”

Sometimes, reaching home turns into an unplanned cardio session. You miss your bus, so you run. The elevator’s broken, so you climb ten flights of stairs. By the time you actually make it inside, you’ve sweat enough to fill a small swimming pool. At least you can call it “exercise.”

Why It’s Never Just “Going Home”

Getting home is supposed to be simple. But life loves to turn it into an unpredictable adventure—half comedy, half tragedy, with just enough humiliation to make a good story later.

So the next time you finally walk through your door after an unnecessarily complicated journey, take a bow. You didn’t just get home—you survived. And that’s worth celebrating.
