Naturally, there will be a ton of entertaining behind-the-scenes information when a show had been airing for more than ten years. Not only the show is hilarious but also some of the facts regarding the show will baffle you and make you wonder how could I have missed it.

Come on, let's get our geek on!

10) Mayim Bialik aka the character Amy Farrah Fowler has a PhD degree in real life.

The quirkiest neurobiologist really knows what she’s talking about. Mayim completed her studies of neuroscience in 2008 and then went on to earn her PhD in Neuroscience.

9) The characters spoke about Mayim Bialik before she was on the show

Back in season 1, Raj, Leonard, and Howard were discussing alternatives to replace Sheldon on their physics team. "You know who's apparently very smart, is the girl who played TV's Blossom. She earned a PhD in, I don't know, neurology," Raj says, recommending the actress Mayim Bialik. After two seasons, Bialik starred on the television series as Amy. What a coincidence!

8) Penny’s last name is still a mystery

Now, you'd think that in a show where the characters analyze the cosmos down to its subatomic particles, someone would've figured out Penny's last name, right? Wrong. Creators of the show managed to baffle fans with this one mystery and Penny’s surname remained the Da Vinci Code of the sitcoms.

7) Raj is kind of based on a real person

Bill Prady, the executive director, had a friend who, like the character Raj during his early seasons, couldn't talk to women all while he was sober.

6) Penny wears the same outfit in the first episode and also the one in which she agreed to go put with Leonard

She's wearing the same outfit when Leonard initially meets Penny in the pilot episode of season 1 and when she agrees to to go out with him in episode 100, "The Recombination Hypothesis"!

5) Leonard’s glasses don’t have lenses in them

According to Johnny Galecki aka Leonard Hofstadter, since Jim Parsons aka Sheldon Cooper was much taller than him, which required him to always look up. The light from the projectors reflected off his glasses and created a glare. So he didn’t need to have lenses in his glasses. How come everyone missed it!

4) Sheldon Cooper’s Mother Is Played By A Mother and Daughter

On The Big Bang Theory, Laurie Metcalf plays Sheldon Cooper's pious, Texan mother. In the prequel and spinoff Young Sheldon. Young Mary Cooper is played by Zoe Perry. Interestingly, Zoe Perry happens to be the real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf.

3) Johnny Galecki Was Originally Going To Play Sheldon Cooper

Although Johnny Galecki was the first choice of the character Sheldon Cooper, he decided that Leonard Hofstadter would be a better fit for him.

2) The cast are also highly skilled musicians

Most of the characters on the show are not only academic geniuses but also talented musicians. Three of the stars possess the necessary talent themselves for accomplishing this.

While Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik particularly learned how to play the theremin and the harp for the show, Johnny Galecki has been a cellist since a young age.

1. It wasn't always called The Big Bang Theory.

Lenny, Penny, and Kenny was the initial title of the highly acclaimed sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," which captured audiences with its blend of humor and intelligence.
