Toyin Abraham and her husband Kola Ajeyemi are one of Nollywood's most celebrated power couples. The two got married in 2019 and have been going strong ever since. During a new interview with Rubbin' Minds on Channels Television, Toyin Abraham opened up about how she met her husband, her parents' reaction to it, and why even though both of them are actors, the two do not work together or put money together. Here's what Toyin Abraham revealed.

Toyin Abraham on Rubbin Minds

During her interview, Toyin Abraham was asked "How did you meet your husband?", she said:

He's an actor. He has been in the Yoruba movie industry so I've known him for years. He's my senior colleague. So I'm always like he's too calm, always very calm, but when you see him in movies, he's [more rugged]. But in real life, my husband is a prayer warrior. So whenever I go to Abeokuta, he's my friend. So we started getting close and that was just it. We started dating and I didn't even want anybody to know about it. So we started dating and I started realizing I was getting very fond of him. So when he wants to go to work, I'll just tell him I want to come. So I will follow him and I will be in the room. So some other time, I will tell him I want to sit down, I don't mind what anybody will say. So from there, I took him to my parents, he took me to his parents, and we had a little introduction. I got pregnant, and we got married.

"Considering how your marriage went with someone in the industry, did it worry you that you were getting involved with someone again in the industry?"

Uhmm, yes and no. When I'm actually in love or I know something is right - my family they were a little bit skeptical. It was my godmother that said don't worry, he's a good man, go ahead. So later, I'm from a Christian home so when they prayed about it, they said this is your husband. And fortunately my ex, my family they actually prayed about it and they said he wasn't but I was just stubborn. So I just said okay. They said "but you have to be submissive" and I said of course!

"How do you draw the line between work with him and being married to him? Does it ever cross? How do you handle that?"

Okay, that was part of the things that we spoke about. My husband is a mature man so he told me "Toyin, there's some things I want us to talk about. When we're in the house, yes, wife. But when it comes to your job, you're an actress, which I've accepted". So for instance, me and my husband, we don't work together.

"Is that something you want to continue to happen?"

Yes, forever. I can work in his movie but producing together, no! He has his Youtube channel, I have my Youtube channel. I promote his job, he promotes mine. So anytime he wants me to act in his movie, he will just tell me "hello, you're going to be working with me for 2 days", I'm like "ah ah, how much are you paying me?" We laugh over it. Obviously he's not gonna [pay me], I'll go. But putting money together, no! But like sometimes, for example when I was shooting Ijakumo because I did it with FilmOne, I didn't have enough money because it's a big budget - like my biggest budget ever. So I spoke to him like babe, can you borrow me? So sometimes he can say okay take, add it, when the movie comes out, give me back my money. But like doing business together, movies together, we don't. He has his businesses and I have mine.
