Why I've Never Married and Have No Intention of Marrying - Timaya

Nigerian musician Timaya is one singer who over the years, people have been waiting for to make an announcement on when he will be walking down the aisle. But all these years later and all this time later, Timaya is still very much single and according to him, he's not even thinking about getting married at all. During a new interview with Wazobia, the "Dem Mama" crooner opened up about his thoughts about marriage. He explained why so many marriages are struggling now and how people don't even seem to know why they want to get married these days. Timaya had a whole lot to say about the issue. Here's what he said.

During his interview with Wazobia, Timaya was asked: "Marriage now dey fear many people so wetin you feel? Make I ask you, you fit see one or two things wey dey make marriages no dey as successful as our papa and mama them time?"

I can not speak for anybody cos I have never tried it.

"You've never and there's no intention to ever?"

No. I am not even thinking about it. You understand, because it's life. A lot of people dey do am right now, no be for the right reasons. Some people no dey even know why dey want to even get married. The ability of knowing is the introduction of responsibility. If you marry, you must be responsible to take care of that marriage just like the way you are responsible for yourself. You understand? You must be ready to stay married. No be one thing wey you go just run out, come inside. People no understand wetin marriage be sef. So there's no need to waste your time. It's like if you go study course wey you no like to do for school, how? There's no need na. No be say na generally bad thing oh but people no dey respect or understand am so why you wan go follow them go practice am? If na only one person dey practice am, na different thing. Marriage is beautiful but them dey make am look bad. Bro only me the kain marry wey I wan marry olorun, you know those Indian movies [wey you go dey one side dey run dey come slow motion], you know that kain thing, but now even if you dey run dey run dey run, the girl sef dey look your pocket as you dey run. Because even me sef wey dey run, I no go fit run well sef cuz I need to carry.
