Mavin singer Boy Spyce is hot on the release of his latest single "Folake" and in promotion of the song, the singer sat down with City 105.1 FM to talk about the song, as well as how he plans to stand out amongst so many men in MAVIN, who he is closest to on the Mavin team, and why he slid into Nancy Isime's DMs. Here is what Boy Spyce said.

Boy Spyce on City 105.1FM

During his interview Boy Spyce was asked: "In the current Mavins set now, we have you, Magixx, Bayanni, Crayon, Rema. It's a lot of young guys doing their thing. How do you stand out? What's your plan when it comes to standing out for people to be able to say this is Boy Spyce? Because sometimes people who are not music heads can say like "who sang this?" Especially when you guys put out the joint body of work. When people are asking "who took this verse? who took that verse?" How do you stand out from the crowd?" Boy Spyce said:

BOY SPYCE: Uhmmm, by those questions they're asking. Because not everybody knows you, not everybody is going to know you. So if people can ask that "who is this person that did this thing?", they are obviously interested in knowing who it is. So when they ask and they know, now they know you.

"But they don't have access to you so how do you make them not ask that? What's the plan? So that when they listen to the music, they already know this is Boy Spyce?"

BOY SPYCE: Uhmm, it's a gradual thing. There are people who already know my sound. Once they hear just one line, they already know it's me. And there's some people who are still like warming up. So even if I'm 10 years into the game, if I walk up to someone and someone goes "who are you?" I'm still going to say "Hey I'm Boy Spyce" because not everybody is going to know you. So it's not a big deal for me. I'm more interested in the fact that they're asking to know who I am.

"In the Mavin crew, who are you closest to?"

BOY SPYCE: Uhmm, I will say Cray. Cray is like my biggest supporter supporting me in everything I do. So I will say Crayon. I made a tweet just the other day to thank him because like from day 1, even before I got unveiled, his energy has just always been very positive and I appreciate it.

"You and Crayon look alike"

BOY SPYCE: I get that a lot. Yeah, I get that a lot.

"Are you sure you don't want to have a conversation with your dad and ask dad is this my brother from another mother?"

BOY SPYCE: Nah. If I was going to have that conversation, I would ask for Nancy Isime cuz I slid into her DMs and was like we look alike oh! Her hair is blonde and you're from Edo State, we need to go and check our background. She just laughed and was like "Yeah, she has heard that before".

I guess I do see how both of them look alike. The blonde hair especially. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post.
