Why Burna Boy Is a Musician Not an Artiste - Bella Shmurda
Bella Shmurda talks musicians vs artistes

Nigerian musician Bella Shmurda is best known for making a number of hit songs including Cash App, Philo, Vision 2020, Contraband, Fvck Off, and more. In addition to that, he is also known for his personality, his fashion sense, and for the different kind of vibe he brings to the entertainment industry today.
During a new interview with media personality Taymesan for his podcast Tea With Tay, Bella Shmurda gave some very opinions about how he sees a difference between somebody being called a musician and somebody being called an artiste. He also used other African singers like Pasuma, Angelique Kidjo, and Burna Boy to try and point out the difference between both words: musician and artiste. Here's what Bella Shmurda said about why he believes Burna Boy is a musician, not an artiste.

Speaking about why he believes Burna Boy is a musician not an artiste during his appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, Bella Shmurda explained saying:
Musician is different from an artiste. Artiste can just sing. Artiste na trend. Something dey blow you jump on am, e hot. Musician is different. Fela is a musician. Pasuma is a musician. Burna Boy is a musician, he is not an artiste. Angelique Kidjo is a musician, she is not an artiste. Bella Shmurda is a musician, I am not an artiste. Artiste is just someone that is known for singing. It's different from someone that is known for doing music. Singing is different from music o! I can sing your song o. You go sing am, I go re-sing am but creating your own sound, being your own self, developing that new sound is the musician thing. And Bella Shmurda is a musician, I'm not an artiste. I just don't sing. I don't sing o! I don't sing for song sake, I don't sing for hit. Musicians don't sing for hit. Musicians do music for impact. For longevity. So there's a difference between a lot of us out there. The goal is to be a pioneer of something. To be a legend in something. Afrobeats, we have Fela is a legend already. We need a new sound. Even if it's under sub Afrobeats, someone will bring it. Someone gast start it. And it's only a musician that can do it. An artiste will always keep doing Afrobeats. A musician will change it.

What do you think about what Bella Shmurda said? Do you think he's making sense or talking nonsense? Also, do you agree that he, Burna Boy, and Angelique Kidjo are all in the same class of being called "musicians" or do you think he hasn't reached there yet?
