By Jide OkonjoPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Nigerian singer Burna Boy is known for his chart topping songs, and his dedicated fanbase. But on the other side of it, he is also known for being quite "cocky" and coming off as "rude" to a number of people, especially because of some of the braggadocios things he says online, and some of his antics that have gone viral on the internet from his shows, and such.

Now, one of his mentors in the game and industry titan himself Timaya, who has known and supported Burna Boy since the early days of his career, is now opening up about the singer's relentless over confidence, and his sometimes off-putting antics. According to Timaya, it is nothing new to him. During a new interview with Naija FM 102.7, Timaya explains an incident where Burna Boy asked singers Omawumi and Waje to leave his studio. Here is what Timaya had to say about the fateful day.

During Timaya's interview, he was asked "How is the relationship between you and Burna Boy?" to which he said:

BURNA BOY: Actually very good

"You are one guy that he really respects because I think you are part of his success story. He has quoted you so many times citing what you told am at one point or another."

TIMAYA: My guy. My guy. I've always believed in him. Nothing him dey do now wey dey surprise me. Nothing.

"Nothing Burna Boy dey do right now dey surprise you?"

TIMAYA: Nothing. Nothing. The guy is fearless. There is one time I remember we dey studio for Lekki Phase One. Me, him,Waje, and Omawumi.

He was talking, he was saying that there will be a time they will be paying him to enter jet. Ah ah. Omawumi them say "which kain talk be this?" We never dey enter jet that time. The guy opened door said "abeg, make them dey go." Say make everybody komot for the studio. I said "ah ah, calm down na!" He said "baba why them go dey talk like that?" Bro, so you see that powerful belief, he's had it right from the beginning.
