What I Look For in a Man - Tems

Nigerian singer Tems just recently performed at the Power 105 concert in New York. After the show, she got the opportunity to talk to some interviewers and Tems during her talk opened up about how she got to work with Rihanna, what she's looking for in a date, and more. Here's what Tems had to say during her interviews.

During her interviews, Tems was asked: "Rihanna just said your pen game is amazing. How did it feel to get that compliment from her?" She responded:

It's amazing. Rihanna is an icon to the whole world. And like, I mean how crazy, how great is this comeback, is this new thing, and I'm so happy that I'm part of this huge thing.

"How do you feel about how Afrobeats has exploded in the United States?"

I think it's amazing. I think you know, I feel like people are paying more attention to Africa now, to Nigeria specifically. And Nigeria is a land full of talent and I think that it was only a matter of time till they recognized the music that's coming out and the talent that's coming out of there. The music is contagious and it's making its way and its doing its thing. And honestly, I think we should just allow it continue doing its thing.

"How did you get to work with Rihanna on the Black Panther soundtrack?"

Well, I was recording. I mean, I was writing in general for Black Panther and I wrote the song. I got in Ryan and Ludwig, we met up with them, and they gave us the direction. They had some words on the song already you know. And Ludwig also composed it so we all collaborated and brought it together.

"How does it feel to also pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman with this music?"

I think Chadwick was definitely a special person all through. It's an honor to be part of something that remembers him.

"What do you have coming up?"

Music for sure coming. I'm really really trying to take my time and work on it and make it very special. I'm very excited about the next thing.

"Everytime you post a pic, people are so thirsty to shoot their shot at you. What does someone have to take to get a date with Tems?"

Whoa! Well, you have to be really smart. Like you have to outsmart me. And not necessarily in terms of knowledge, just like in terms of like life. You have to just make me feel like I can't manipulate you. Yeah.

So does Tems mean that she wants someone that can out-manipulate her? Well that's what some people online started debating after hearing her response. After hearing what Tems said, people were divided. Some said "Lmao men dey wey go manipulate you no worry", while others asked "Why are people saying she wants to be manipulated, ladies don’t want smarter guys normally?"
