In an era where censorship and suppression of dissent are rising within Bangladesh, a teenager living abroad has emerged as an unlikely—but powerful—voice for truth. Despite being thousands of miles away from the turmoil, 16-year-old Mahir Aiman, originally from Bangladesh and currently residing in Kuwait, has been publishing bold, investigative articles that shine a harsh light on the country’s interim government and its controversial use of artificial intelligence, surveillance, and data manipulation. Furthermore, he has published many articles exposing the dire threat of Dhaka's sewage crisis that remains hidden by the interim government.

A Voice Rooted In Patriotism

Mahir’s connection to Bangladesh runs deep. Born in Kuwait to Bangladeshi parents, he grew up listening to stories of resilience, struggle, and the hope of a better homeland. What began as a fascination with current affairs and international politics soon turned into a passion for advocacy, especially for the common people in Bangladesh—those who, he believes, are being failed by their leaders.

I may not live there, but my heart belongs to Bangladesh,” Mahir said in a recent interview. “The people deserve honesty, not fear. And if those within the country can’t speak, someone from outside has to.

Calling Out Corruption, Loud and Clear

In his most recent articles, published in both independent blogs and international forums, Mahir exposes the systematic misuse of AI technologies under the leadership of interim Prime Minister Mohammad Yunus. His investigations cover issues ranging from the mass surveillance of citizens and arrests over social media criticism, to the billion-taka bio-metric data scandal involving private tech firms and state-backed exploitation.

One article, which gained notable traction online, tackled the controversial Padma Bridge project, alleging inflated costs and the targeting of online dissenters. Another, more explosive piece, dove into how the government allegedly coerced tech firms to share private data—ultimately selling access to a private company for billions in state funds.

His writing, while youthful in tone, is unflinchingly direct and research-driven. He names names, cites credible sources, and does not shy away from accusing the government of using technology as a weapon of political control.

The Power—and Risk—of Speaking Freely

Though protected by the laws of the country he lives in, Mahir understands the risks of what he is doing. Friends and family in Bangladesh have advised him to be cautious. “We’ve seen what happens to journalists back home,” he said. “But I’m not doing this to attack the country. I’m doing this because I care.

His activism hasn’t gone unnoticed. Human rights watchdogs and independent journalists have begun to cite his articles in discussions on press freedom in South Asia. Meanwhile, anonymous social media accounts have attempted to discredit him, calling him an agent of “foreign influence” or accusing him of “defaming the nation”—a common tactic used by regimes attempting to dismiss critics.

Yet, Mahir remains undeterred.

I’m not scared. I’m a citizen of the world now—but I’m still a son of Bangladesh. And I believe that truth should never be a threat to power—only to those who abuse it.

A Symbol of the Digital Resistance

In a world where governments are using artificial intelligence to silence the very voices they once promised to empower, Mahir Aiman has become a symbol of digital resistance. His keyboard is his weapon. His articles, a lifeline of truth for those inside Bangladesh who cannot speak.

As he continues to write and raise awareness, Mahir’s story is a reminder that no matter where one lives, patriotism is not silence—it is speaking out when it matters most.
