Aamir Khan is an Indian film actor, producer and director. Through his career spanning thirty years in Hindi films, Khan has established himself as one of the most popular and influential actors of Indian cinema. In 2017, Forbes and Newsweek called him the 'Biggest Movie Star' in the world.
With so many titles to choose, I have selected ten best films of Aamir Khan's shining career.
Lagaan (2001)
The people of a small village in Victorian India stake their future on a game of cricket against their ruthless British rulers.
Lagaan received critical acclaim and awards at international film festivals, as well as many Indian film awards. It became the third Indian film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film after Mother India (1957) and Salaam Bombay! (1988). It was one of the biggest box office hits of 2001. The movie changed the entire filmmaking method of Bombay cinema industry with Aamir Khan delivering one of the greatest performances in the history of Indian Cinema.
3 idiots (2009)
Two friends are searching for their long lost companion. They revisit their college days and recall the memories of their friend who inspired them to think differently, even as the rest of the world called them "idiots".
Widely regarded as best Bollywood commercial movie ever. The film received critical acclaim and commercial success. The film won six Filmfare Awards including Best Film, and three National Film Awards including Best Popular Film. It also received a Japanese Academy Award nomination for Best Outstanding Foreign Language Film, and won the Grand Prize at Japan's Videoyasan Awards.
The film was remade in Tamil as Nanban (2012), starring Vijay, and a Mexican remake, 3 Idiotas, was also released in 2017.
Dangal (2016)
Former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two wrestler daughters struggle towards glory at the Commonwealth Games in the face of societal oppression.
The film was highly appreciated by critics. Dangal emerged as 30th highest-grossing film of 2016 worldwide and the fifth highest-grossing non-English film of all time. At the 62nd Filmfare Awards, it won four awards including Best Film, and Best Actor for Aamir Khan. It is his second last release to date and yet people call his performance as a career best act, this shows Aamir's growth as an actor and filmmaker. Five years down the lane, Dangal still holds the record of being the highest grossing Indian film worldwide.
Rang De Basanti (2006)
The story of six young Indians who assist an English woman to film a documentary on the freedom fighters from their past, and the events that lead them to relive the long-forgotten saga of freedom.
The film was well received and praised for strong screenplay and dialogues. Rang De Basanti did well at many of the Bollywood awards ceremonies, including a win for Best Movie at the Filmfare Awards and Best Actor Critics Award for Aamir Khan.
Taare Zameen Par (2007)
An eight-year-old boy is thought to be a lazy trouble-maker, until the new art teacher has the patience and compassion to discover the real problem behind his struggles in school.
One of the finest movies ever made. The film has received numerous awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Film for 2008 and the 2008 National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare, Aamir won Best Director awards at multiple ceremonies for this gem of a movie.
Dil Chahta Hai (2001)
Three inseparable childhood friends are just out of college. Nothing comes between them - until they each fall in love, and their wildly different approaches to relationships creates tension.

PK (2014)

The film was remade in Kannada as Sathyameva Jayathe with Devaraj and in Telugu as Astram with Vishnu Manchu and Anushka Shetty. It is one of the best cop dramas ever made in Indian cinema.
Andaz Apna Apna (1994)
Two slackers competing for the affections of an heiress inadvertently become her protectors from an evil criminal.
One of the best comedy movies ever made in Bollywood. The film was a moderate grosser at the box office, but has since emerged as a cult film over the years. The chemistry between Aamir and Salman is still unmatched by any other male duo.
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)
A rich brat and a poor chap try to woo a girl, with their rivalry culminating in the most prestigious college event - the marathon cycle race.
One of the most popular Bollywood movies ever. The movie won two Filmfare Awards, including Best Film. It had several remakes: the Telugu film Thammudu (1999), the Tamil film Badri (2001), the Kannada film Yuvaraja (2001), and the Bengali film Champion (2003), Aamir caught the imagination of every Indian teen age boy with his performance upon the release of the movie.
