Generation Z is the youngest generation on the planet, but they've already made a name for themselves as digital natives and trendsetting movers and shakers. These young people are incredibly tech-savvy, but they're also resourceful, entrepreneurial, inclusive and family-oriented. They prioritize financial security over material goods (which makes them more frugal than previous generations), but their list of role models is long and diverse — from political leaders to pop stars to athletes. We have lots more information about Generation Z (also known as iGen or Centennials) in this article!

Generation Z is the youngest generation on the planet.

Generation Z is the youngest generation on the planet. This demographic cohort follows Millennials and is said to be more pragmatic than their predecessors. Generation Z is a product of an era in which technology was ubiquitous, so it's no surprise that they are digital natives. What's interesting about this group is that they were born after 2000, have had access to the internet since their early years, and have been accustomed to constant connection since birth.

They're also different from previous generations because they're less likely to identify with religion and politics—a byproduct of being raised in a post-9/11 world? Or simply a reflection of how young people today prefer private over public interactions? We'll see!

They are incredibly tech-savvy.

  • The internet and social media are an integral part of their daily lives. They are the first generation to grow up with the internet, smartphones, and social media.
  • Apps help them do everything from ordering food to paying bills to finding a job—and they’re comfortable using them at every stage of life.
  • Virtual reality is not just a buzzword; it’s an everyday reality for Gen Zers who have grown up using video games as entertainment (and sometimes education).

They are the most inclusive generation.

Members of Generation Z are more open to diversity than previous generations. They're more likely to accept different types of people, ideas, and relationships. This makes them a great generation for anyone who has ever felt like they don't fit in with the rest of society.

They are also more accepting when it comes to other cultures, families, and relationships. Members of Generation Z have grown up in an era when LGBTQ rights were becoming increasingly recognized around the world (and even at home). As a result, they've grown up learning that everyone should be treated equally—regardless of race or sexuality—no matter how unconventional their backgrounds may be!

They are entrepreneurial.

Entrepreneurship is a big part of Gen Z's DNA. Not only are they more likely to start a business, but they're also more likely to be self-employed or employed by a start-up—and less likely to take traditional nine-to-five desk jobs. They're driven by the freedom and flexibility offered through self-employment, seeking out opportunities that offer personal growth and development.

It's no wonder there are so many successful entrepreneurs in this generation; it seems like just about every other person you know is starting their own company these days!

They are passionate about social justice.

Social issues are important to Generation Z, and they care about making the world a better place.

They are more likely than millennials to volunteer for causes they care about, and they are more likely to donate money.

Generation Z is also more politically active. They're more likely than millennials or Generation X to vote, and many even become activists themselves by speaking up on social media or in person when they see something unfair happening in their community.

They are family oriented.

The first thing that comes to mind when you think about Generation Z is their family oriented nature. They are less independent than previous generations and more likely to have a close relationship with their parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles than any other generation before them.

This can be seen in many ways throughout the day-to-day lives of those born after 1995: they rely on family members for advice; they are involved in multiple activities that involve spending time together; they take pictures of themselves with their loved ones at every chance they get (thereby documenting every moment); some even have baby showers or weddings planned out well before having kids or getting married themselves!

They prioritize financial security over material goods.

Generation Z is a generation of young people who have grown up in an environment of economic crisis and uncertainty. They are the first generation to be born into a world where climate change was real, and they know that the planet is not long for this one. They also know that it’s their job to fix it, even if no one else wants to do anything.

They are far more concerned about their future than they are with material goods or money. If you want to give them something they’ll love and use, look into giving them financial security as opposed to buying them something they don't need at all.

They have a wide range of interests and their list of role models is long and diverse.

Many of the Gen Zers we talked to said they are not limited to just one role model. Their list was long and diverse, including a wide range of famous people who had inspired them but also classmates, teachers and parents. They can learn from anyone—and they don't have to wait until they're older or wiser.

They do not have to be limited by their circumstances because they see value in things that might seem unimportant to others; instead, they look at how people can make the most out of what's available. For example: In a conversation about recycling trash into art projects with a group of high school students at an after-school program for girls ages 12-18 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (who were part of Generation Z), one teenager said she saw her plastic bottles as canvases for paint because she didn't want them just sitting around taking up room at home. She'd been inspired by watching YouTube videos demonstrating how artists create paintings using only recycled materials such as cans or cardboard packaging from cereal boxes or paper towel rolls cut into different lengths depending on the type.(1)

They're pragmatic, curious and creative.

They're pragmatic. They solve problems in creative ways, which is a characteristic that separates Generation Z from previous generations. They ask questions and want to know the why behind everything. They're curious about what lies beyond their own sphere of influence, but they also appreciate being able to make a difference right where they are today.

They're creative and imaginative. They use their imaginations in many aspects of their lives: art, music, learning new skills—and even cooking! Creativity is something that has always been important to this generation; they embrace it wholeheartedly as part of who they are, which is refreshing compared to some older adults who have become so set in their ways over time (i'm looking at you dad).

They're heavily influenced by pop culture.

When it comes to the things that influence Gen Z, pop culture is a big one. They’re heavily influenced by social media and celebrities, as well as music, technology and fashion. When it comes to sports, they are very interested in what their friends are doing, so if your child has a favorite team or athlete you can use that as an opportunity to bond with them over something they enjoy. Politically speaking, many Gen Zers are very aware of current events and will care about what you have to say about them.

This generation is learning faster than any other generation before them

You may be wondering how this generation is so much more adept at learning than others. It's simple: they're used to being taught by their peers and the internet, whereas previous generations were taught by teachers and textbooks. This can be seen in many ways, including:

  • They are more likely to learn from YouTube videos than they are from books
  • They are more likely to learn from a podcast than they are from lectures
  • They are more likely to learn from the news or tweets than they are from articles or forums
  • They're also more likely to learn via Facebook posts than via newspaper articles

Conclusion

Ultimately, Generation Z is a fascinating group of people who have a lot to offer. They’re optimistic, they’re pragmatic and they know what they want in life. But most importantly, they understand the world around them in ways that previous generations haven’t—and this is something we can all learn from. As these young people grow up into adults with more influence over our society than ever before, it’s time to start paying attention and listening closely so that we can engage with them in meaningful ways too!
