To my son

Finding out I was pregnant with you baby was the best day in my life. I have to admit I jumped in the air in excitement. I had to find a way to tell your father and I did it in the best secretive way I could. After taking that pregnancy test I went back out to get something that I knew would make your father the happiest man. I went to the baby aisles and found a bib that said what I wanted it to say. It had Mickey Mouse on it and it said welcome to the world. I rushed back to the place I was staying in and waited patiently for the time to go by so I could go pick up your father and give him what I put in the red box.

6:15 am I’m nervous and pacing on how I should do it. I was so nervous because I knew in our hearts we wanted to have you so bad but it took three months while your father and I were working two jobs back to back. I leave the place we were staying at 6:30 to wait for your father to get out of work. Once I pull up, I see him wave to me and he told me to hold on. I’m thinking so hard in my head should I give it to him In the car and once I thought that he got in the vehicle. Just great right? Oh well just give it to him and don’t pull off just yet. As I reach for what I put in the back seat he tells me honey come on let's go and I told him no wait 😂.

I give him the red box and he like some out there says “what’s this? Is it really for me?” Yes, honey now hurry and open it 😂. As he opens it I record his reaction and with a big smile he said: “We are having a baby?”. I drive off to take us back to the place we were staying and we sat down on our couch and just started talking about you baby boy. It is how every parent out there dreams of giving everything they couldn’t have to their own children that are being brought into this world. We were thinking fast trying to get our own place and kept it a secret long enough until we got our apartment.

Oh, how we play with so many names for if it’s a boy or a girl. As we were grateful to have whichever gender god has a plan to give us. I remember in February I got ahold of your Nina and talked for a few hours until I broke the news to her about your soon arrival to the world. Oh, how happy she was and how she wouldn’t stop calling me every day to check upon us. Your Nina came up with your middle name baby boy and your father came up with your first name. So baby boy you are our gift from God and your father and I love you so much that we protect you even from certain things and some family.

My handsome son, please hold my hand because mommy and daddy have so much to tell you and show you. This world is big and our journey has begun with you. You and your smile are all I ever want to see every day In this world even when the struggle and bad comes in, you still brighten the room up for us. My son, you are our angel sent from above and we cherish you so much and know how this world can be cruel but we will guide you through it and give all the things your father and I couldn’t have. Hold my hand son because this journey will be long and sometimes hard but things get easier in life. Hold my hand son as the world can be so cruel for you but mommy will be here to guide you. I love you baby boy and so does your father. May God keep blessing us.
