This Is Why You Should Be Pro-Choice
Here is where “All Lives Matter” is different

While I do understand why many people are pro-life, allow me to share why I believe abortion should be an option for every woman.
“All lives matter”
A statement that you hear a lot from pro-life supporters which is reasonable because yes, all lives do matter. However, if you were put between a choice to choose a life over somebody else’s. Here it becomes different.
I’ll give you a few example:
First, A woman gets raped. One of the worst things to happen to anybody. The ultimate invasion of privacy and human rights. A traumatic experience to be stuck with for the rest of her life.
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s research shows that survivors of sexual assault are 10 times more likely to attempt suicide than those who haven’t experienced sexual assault.
Survivors of sexual assault are often diagnosed with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, two mental health conditions that can have serious impacts on a person’s ability to manage stress and anxiety.

Imagine all of that, and then she gets pregnant. Let’s say she doesn’t want the baby.
Still she shouldn’t abort?
Okay. How about she keeps the baby while dealing with not just 9 months of the physical and psychological effects that come from pregnancy but also all the hell she is already going through. And each time her baby kicks, she is reminded of why that kick is there in the first place.
I thought that All Lives Matter? Her life doesn’t matter?
“It does, but it’s not the baby’s fault”
Her mental health deteriorates affecting not just her, but also her baby who will most likely grow up with mental health issues because trauma passes through genes.
The baby will either go to foster care or won’t be raised healthily because he wasn’t wanted in the first place. Why do that to the baby?
I thought that All Lives Matter? The baby’s life doesn’t matter?

If she survived rape and got the chance to heal from it, why force a baby upon her? and not just any baby, a product of an awful memory.
Here is where “All Lives Matter” is different. Choosing between two lives. You can’t have both. And the only person to decide is the one carrying that life.
Hell is different for every woman (in this case):
Hell is either aborting a baby or keeping the baby. Either way, she is the only one to decide what hell she doesn’t want to go through. Because she is the one facing it, not you.
. . .
Secondly, To the pro-life supporters that say:
“How about if she got pregnant by mistake?”
Imagine a middle school girl who got pregnant. Do you expect a child to raise a child? Even if she gets support from her family. Why would you want a child to have such a huge responsibility and a large amount of stress when all she should be doing is playing and going to school?

Thirdly,
An adult gets pregnant for simply not using protection (although women can get pregnant even with protection):
She is FORCED to keep that baby because of her “irresponsible mistake”. Her punishment is a baby? How sad and awful is that to the baby? And how awful is it to go through an awful lot for something you don’t want?
Again:
She gets to choose the hell she doesn’t want to face because she is the one facing it. Not you.
