The Value in a Mental Health Session
Reasons why Releasing does the soul Good!
Not seeing a mental health doctor is the first sign of insanity! Now this is something that will do the soul good. I am going to focus on three areas or so that could help us all tremendously. Think of it as venting to a friend you really don't know, but there is not a worry of that friend airing the laundry out or talking to about friends about issues that is about to unravel your brain and soul. Now I know the stigma attached to seeing a doctor about some of the things that are going on and what makes life hard may be a difficult event; however, just understand he or she may be just as in need for a good conversation as you. We all need each other, but a doctor is a professional way to see someone with boundaries.
Nothing like a good cleansing of thoughts to release the body to freedom. That is the exact feeling I receive when I have complete a session and sometimes (lets be real) I think less of hurting those who deserve it. The first key to admitting there is a problem, is know that self help is needed. Life is not easy by any means. Money or not, beautiful or less attractive, full of friends or lonely; we all have something to talk about and we all need to release every now and then to keep that very last bit of sanity to hold on.
Nonetheless, I won't bore anyone with medical terms and I will try to keep this as simple as possible. Imagine a bottle with pressure having nowhere to release. This is the average person thinking it is okay to hold it all in. Particular foolish trait that run common with black men. We have to play tough and let everyone know that we don't feel pain. I guess this is why the prison system can't get enough of black men, who have it all under control. The freedom to speak to a mental health professional will allow the opportunity to open up to someone without judgement. We all know that the black man has more judgment than he can bare. I'm not talking about your best friend, or someone who can use the darkest shared secrets against you in the mist of an argument with intentions to cause pain. However, that neutral zone that allow freedom of expression without critics, but constructive guidance. I'm fortunate enough to have two good friends, maybe three I can approach like this and I still seek mental health.
The regular release will give freedom of expression and control of anger and temper. I am still under construction and I have a long ways to go, but I'm on the right path. having a session with a mental health provider establishes the much needed structure that will help with the problems you thought that were under control and help you solve some of the past pains, or give you an ideal to solve them. I know that my life after living all those years of thinking "it" was all figured out, but I have found solutions in how to deal with past disappointments and pain. Funny what someone can reveal to a complete stranger. This is why mental health doctors are so important. Unbottle that past and move toward a better "you".
I can still remember my last session. It was like my body felt lighter after the conversation. I have less headaches and I process situations better because there is structure of thought and a better mental guard of how life is presented to others and I am not as much on guard, waiting to have a combative confrontation with someone. I know my limits, and I know my pressure points! Life before a mental health professional was so all over the place. Stress is one of the top killers in this day and age. It is a high encouragement to manage and minimize the stress and live a more healthier life.
However, please don't take my word for it. Stop thinking what others may say or think. The primary goal is to have a positive mental health, which leads to a positive physical health and a better understanding to process the events that occur in this short life we live.
