The night out girl code (by yourself or with a group)
The way it should be

I will be giving versions of these rules for if you go out alone, see a girl alone or you are part of a group if there are versions for it.
Rule #1: You come together you leave together. Or the version the girl alone you come alone you leave alone. Don't leave with random strangers.
The exception to the rule is if a friend feels sick but make sure she is getting home safe by uber or some other plan.
Rule #2 for the groups during the night stay together. If you have to step outside or go to the bathroom let someone in your group know. Make sure everyone gets home and to their car safely. If one of your friends leaves the group then go looking for them and call them.
Rule #3 One person in the group needs to not drink or drink less than everyone. If by yourself don't drink or only have one. This one is obvious when drinking there is a bigger chance that you won't be aware of your surroundings.
Rule #4 Be aware of your surroundings. Is someone staring? Is someone following you? Be aware of someone besides you, friends or a bartender trying to touch your drink. One of the smartest pieces of advice I ever heard was to keep your head on swivel. Be aware! Also if you think someone is following you or getting too close make sure they know you are aware they are there, look them in the eye.
Rule #5 Guard your drinks and recognize the signs of drugging of your drink. Leave your drink with friends or the bar tender. The signs of being roofied include lowered inhibitions, drowsiness, brain fog, decreased reaction time, disorientation, impaired mental functioning and judgment, confusion, aggression, loss of coordination, weakness, headache, nausea and vomiting , and respiratory depression.
Rule #6 Use ridesharing with caution. Not only should you share your location with a trusted friend you should also share the details of your ride and driver. Check to make sure the driver and car match the one on the app. Pay attention to the route that's being taken, say something and if needed call or text for help from loved one's (or 911).
Rule #7 Ensure belongings’ safety. Don't let your stuff out of your site. If you have to then leave it with your friends. Use smaller cross body bags to keep them on you if possible.
Rule #8 Avoid being in low-light areas. If you drive yourself park by a light. Don't walk down dark side streets.
Rule #9 Make use of technology like texting and location sharing. Circle of 6 and Watch Over Me are some of the safety apps that are available. I like the idea of watch over me the best. If you know of some others, please leave them in the comments.
Rule #10 Hone self-defense skills. If you haven't done a self-defense class or it's been a while, please do one.
Rule #11 Do does not accept any food or drinks from unknown people. We have this rule the don't leave drinks unattended for the same reason. people could do to your drinks. So unless they come from a waitress, bartender or friend don't accept it.
This post isn't meant to scare you or to be a buzz kill. I just don't want to see another women or girl get hurt, get murdered or go missing. I want to see all women be smart and safe. It speaks to the world we live in that we have to even think this way!
