This was one of those days when she needed to soothe her craving. After studying and chatting on Facebook, Pease decided to go out. Her mood which is once solemn became alert by people saying familiar hellos. Then, she changed her mind in itself to crossing the street. Sometimes, pubs are on the corner saying tacos, ribs or chicken. She pondered for a moment. Suddenly, shoulders shrugged the extra thoughts away. She’d probably stopby afterwards. For now, Pease felt like making a closer connection. An earthy and evenso personal appeal. Walking on feet is as easy as riding a bike so she travailed far down the road. Pease is searching for a new spot. Alas, another place caught her eye. A new menu is being offered. The deal is a full combo including dessert or coffee. Pease gave in.
When she walked in there’s something unusual about the restaurant. There’s a premonition. She dreaded the thought. Besides it’s foolish to dwell on that thought. Almost selfishness a matter of fact. Unlike outside, customers are disturbed by the valet. And waiters are acting strange. She wants to hurry up escaping the tension. Quickly, she heads toward the counter. Struggling a little in order to get her change, a first person simply ordered in front of her. However, the second individual queried is she standing in line. Her mood lightened. Pease likes to keep her sprits up. She signaled for him to go ahead. Naybe, he needs food more than herself.
While he waited, he started to talk about a pandemic. A doctor? Pease allowed Gregory to continue telling her about prior experiences. She remembered reading an article so she disclosed viruses aren’t attracted to vitamin C. It is a good way to battle the cold, she believed. He excused himself. She placed her order while not taking her eyes off of the handsome physician. So, she thought, he chose to be a doctor. She liked that a lot. Her premonition was exposed as truth when a lady complained.
“I did not come in here and pay almost eight dollars for a meal half- cooked! What am I suppose to do?- No, I don’t want my money back!? Where’s the manager? Out? “Call him up”, she demanded. I’m not leaving here without it. Understand?”
The attendant replied,” Ma’am, please understand. We are doing the best we can. We are here to serve you...Do you persist? ..He isn’t here..You can come back at 3 o’clock. Until then, enjoy your food...”
She handed an order to Pease. Pease tried not to notice or interfere. All of her, wanted to react in the opposite manner. She greeted the disgruntled lady going to her seat. She noticed the waitress name is Flora.
THE PREMONITION!!! She opened her bag to see the food. She noticed something. Pease wanted to cast it into the sea except her order is ten dollars and seventeen cents.
HAD THIS HAPPENED TO HER BEFORE?
Indeed, last week is when that occurred. Just last week her thoughts gasped. Oh, no she sighed to herself. This can’t be. Calmly, Pease approached the countertop. “ Excuse me...Excuseme...May I have your help, please?”
“May I serve you?”
“My order is not right. I am missing a riblet and a biscuit.”
“You are...? We’re running low on biscuits. We can offer you a Cinnabon. Would you like one?”
“What...Wha-? Do I get a raincheck or coupon for a riblet or sandwich? OR SOMETHIN.” Pease stressed.
“No...No. We do not have those available here?”
“Excuse m- me?...Could you say that again? I want to be sure about what you said.”
“No...No. Nope. Would you like a Cinnabon?”
Pease paused...Someone walked in the back. Well...that is the manager or supervisor. “ Can I speak to him? Your supervisor, please. I think he could understand me better. My riblet...”
“No...He will say the same thing...We serve customers what we have available. Is that okay?”....
Pease almost walked away from the counter...Part of her, returned. She don’t know what is wrong with her demeanor?! It’s no big deal, right? She will see two dollars of what is not there in the meal later. Gee! This is weird. This is not going to be a good day....
More customers came to the front counter because orders unfulfilled.
Come on! You can’t have unfulfilled. What if?...What if a riot erupted, unused or something?! We are not right? She contemplated to herself. She could not remain in a fluster. Silent....She stood up in her seat.
“Listen...I will wait. How long does it take to recook biscuits? “....She shouted, “A FEW!” ...She calmed down. Pease continued . “ It is good for the customers... Do we get that? How- What time do you offer the riblet again? ...Uh..(Sighed sadly). What do you mean?...”
She fingered her riblets in . She fingered the superior. She is confused. This problem have created tension...She rather stay within composure.
There is someone getting extra napkins, cups, and straws. One patron placed a cookie onto their countertop saying he changed his mind. He did not want it. Wait a minute! This is going somewhere. EXPLOSION?!!!
Pease said aloud to the superior past Flora’s head standing at the front counter-table,” Excuse me. I have an order that is unfixed. Could you help me?” She tried to sound more urgent. “ I AM missing a biscuit with a riblet...? I could wait. What time will you be cooking again? “ Pease hoped her words alert others.
Flora spoke,” It’s not like you can’t enjoy your meal...”
Supervisor commented,” Wait a minute...Did you offer her a substitute?” He addressed Flora with the question.
“Yes, a Cinnabon!” Flora said with a broad smile. Her huge one ponytail slopes over restaurant hat atop the head. Due to hair not thick as usual one.
“I need MY Food....I mean, there’s a mistake.” She stammered. I needed this. ...Are you sure you can’t help me?”
“What do you want?,”Supervisor said. He’s calm as well as bold. Friendly enough to await an answer.
Pease whispered,” People ARE restless...I’d like to go NOW?...Could you fill my order in a hurry? When?”
Flora persuaded. “You’ll be fine...” She frowned a nose a little. She nudged, “ You can come back at 3. We will have ALOT of biscuits.”
Pease looked at her out the corner of her eyes. She begins to wonder. Now, she wandered toward the bathroom hallway cutting to the back of their counter. There’s another person came in. He’s cooking! Biscuits?! Riblets are placed in an oven?! Wait a minute? It’s 10 am on the wall clock. And the usual task in restaurants is to complete customers request! I can see there is an error. A lie. An appease?
“ You cannot come back here. You have to leave.” She said firmly. Flora pointed at the door.
People started chiding.
“Hey, you! Get outta there.”
“You can’t go in there? I haven’t ordered yet.”
“Wait your turn?!”
Pease spoke with vulnerability. In almost a pout, she said to the crowd,” I am in need of my order too. “ Firmly, she stressed to the young lady,”If you help me, I will help you...HE Is Cooking now”
Clearly, patrons could hear them talking.
Flora said, “ That’s not for you!”
“ You are going to serve biscuits and riblets aren’t you?”....
Pease is getting restless. She does not like how she is feeling. She would like to exit the building. She likes the restaurant a lot. She is headed back to stand with other patrons. “ Would you go without a rib and a biscuit?”
Flora argued,” Yes. If it means I will leave some for someone else.”
“I see...You are single?...Single.”
“What does that have to do with it?”
Pease looked over to supervisor saying,” IM not getting out without my order. WHEN will you like me to return? For this order?”
Patrons coaxed in agreement.
He joked.”I’m not getting any younger.”
Another man said annoyed,” I HAVE aged 10 years with all that talk. What are talking about?
Lady shouted,” IM having A baby over here. I’m cramped. It’s too CROWDED inside here...(Giggles).
Construction worker man yells, “ I WILL whiz here if I don’t get MY sandmich .”
Flora the attendant shouted, “ Do and die! How will you like me to all the vice squad. I AM coming...”
Supervisor shouts to a different attendant,” Robbertson get the mop out here will ya?” He alerts customers,” Remain calm. Please.” He assists with the young lady.
Supervisor said to Pease,”My name is Dave Crenshaw. You can comeback anytime you’d like. Just mention me. Okay.”
People started urging again.
“Come on. Fill our order.”
“Do you know what you’re doing in here?”
“How long have you been working here?”
“Where’s the Manager?”
Pease couldn’t become helpful any further. She quickly escaped out the emergency exit and headed home.
The End.
