So I read this wonderful romance novel that I wanted to review and share with you. I usually read fantasy and general fiction but sometimes I come across a love story that, in my opinion, is even better than Cinderella. I want to warn you ahead of time that there is a twist at the end of the book but this review does not have any big spoilers. So please enjoy and maybe read the book as well after reading this article.
The Hundredth Time Around by Stacy Lee is a romantic novel about a young woman who falls in love on a beach by a lighthouse and a restaurant. The main character thought she was going on vacation but soon discovers herself and her past while making a new friend who teaches her the value of love and friendship. This book is also about learning how to heal from past traumas and how to forgive those you care most about in the world. It is a wonderful book that teaches many life lessons. I felt many things while reading this but it helped me to process my emotions.
I love that this book tackles hard topics such as mental health and severe injuries that leave people scarred. It does this in the middle of a beautiful romance that stands the test of time. The main love story is the product of a past that is full of romance riddled with pain and guilt. However, what turned into heartbreak ended up producing a result that contradicts how horrible the world can become when one succumbs to their inner demons. The author shows the reader that the world is only as bad as you believe it is and that you can always overcome your circumstances. Life is full of pain and heartache but it is also full of love and friendship. You just have to keep going and try not to ever give up on living and loving.
As much as I loved this book, I had a hard time with the feelings it gave me. I felt like I was the main character the entire time I was reading. This book was so well-written that it actually brought out some memories and feelings in which I had to process all over again. I may have been triggered but that is not the book’s fault nor is it the author’s fault. That is just the result of very good writing. I just happened to have feelings that I pushed down come back out upon reading some of these chapters.
I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I did not find any grammatical or spelling errors and was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. I had a hard time with certain parts of the story but overall it was a beautifully well-written piece of art. I can’t wait to read more by this author. I have heard that this is a first book in a series. I’m hoping this is true.
I highly recommend this book to those who love Young Adult Romance. However, if your emotions are too easily influenced by tragedy I would advise that you read at your own discretion. This would be a great teaching guide for young psychologists who enjoy taking on the human psyche. I learned a lot about myself while flipping through the pages. If you are easily triggered by certain books and stories I would not recommend you reading this and maybe pick up a lighter read. While this may trigger some it may not trigger others so I would recommend that you read this at your own discretion. Thank you!
