Pandemic

I woke up to what I thought was regular day only to find out something different. It seemed ordinary my normal ritual of mouthwash swish to brushing my teeth with my eyes squinted open. To washing my face and sticking it in the water as I shower wash it off with my face cloth now I am awake and starting my day. Starting with a bowl of crunchy cereal and cold milk and a glass of orange juice but as turned on the tv this day turned into mayhem. Shutdown across my state the United States, Italy,Japan and it goes on and on speaking of a deadly unknown airborne virus.

High numbers of patients in hospitals state to state nation to nations the world is in pandemonium. I remember my elderly Mrs. Emma I go knock on her door to find no answer.

This was not unusual you see she lived by herself and kept to herself even ignored neighbors when they spoke to her but something told me this was different. I knocked and ranged the door bell still no answer another neighbor saw me and asked what was going I explain to him what I was doing and my concerns so he kicked in the door only to find Mrs. Emma on the floor unconscious with a black book in here hand we immediately called 911. The ambulance came quickly my ears were filled with sirens. I jumped in the back of the ambulance and we were off to the hospital. They rushed her into emergency and began to hook her up trying to sustain her vitals. I waited outside they ask me was I family I said no and I didn’t know of any family members.

I sat in office because the hospital was full of patient dealing with the air born disease. My heart racing from the shock of my neighbor and what’s happening in the world. Then finally someone emerged with news she was conscious and wanted to see me. I came in the room and she began spitting out commands to me. First get her some under garments and robe from home lock up her house and most importantly bring her black journal. I left to go do what she ask I thought to myself no thank you but all these orders and bring my black book. So I went and gather her things as she said and oh yea grab the black book. So I came back to the hospital with her things the doctor tells me she had a mild stroke and it was not the airborne disease and I could go in and see her. Great I thought when I got there she asked me why I take so long hand me the black book she insisted. Then she told me she was doing fine come back tomorrow and check on her. Wow dismissed again as I drove home thinking the nerve of that lady I see why her family doesn’t visit all she cares about is a black book well let that check on her tomorrow. I went to sleep that night putting Mrs. Emma request completely out of my mind. I awoke in the morning hesitant out of sync brushing my teeth first oh I forgot to gargle oh well after no face wash just showering. I turn on the news hearing the death rate rise more and more feeling sad and helpless. Then I thought at least Mrs. Emma doesn’t have it and recovering so I continued my day working on a project. Then the words Mrs. Emma spoke came back to me I said that’s a sign GOD give me strength I said. I returned to the hospital when I came in it was like they were waiting on me I figured they were ready for her to go because she was them like she bossed me the head nurse came up to me and said I’m glad you came. I asked her what did Mrs Emma do know she said nothing she passed away in her sleep last night again the sirens went off in ears and I fainted. When I came to nurses were helping me off the ground up they took me to a room and check my vitals. The head nurse came in and said she put a note on top of the black book saying give this to my neighbor she said she knew she meant me. I got myself together and left with black book in my purse.

I had such a day I got in the bed I remember the black book so I went and got it out of my purse sat in the chair and began to read . I found out she knew she was dying and wrote she finally found someone who would burry her that was me Denise whashington my neighbor she called her attorney and let him know and she left her home and a million dollar inheritance to me call John Williams her lawyer and have a better life than her. Wow I never knew a black book could contain such a important message.
